The name is very unique. I first Googled it and found Thai people with that name. Upon further inquiry, I discovered that indeed it belongs to a Thai person. Facebook search results revealed only one person with that name; I sent a friend request, but they never called as promised. After more digging, a friend provided me with her ex's passport copy, and another friend sent a letter addressed to her, albeit three years old. Further investigation revealed that Thai people can have USD accounts with Wise. In Thailand, receiving funds into your account without knowledge can result in imprisonment.
    1. Even if I were to go to the High Court in the UK and spend over £15,000, it's unlikely the court would agree, given that the person resides in a different jurisdiction.
    2. I now have confirmed account details (as we are the ones who sent them) and a confirmed name (Wise sent an email congratulating 'Mr. ABCDEFGH,' whom we don't know, within seconds of the funds arriving).
    3. The name is so unique that only one person on Facebook shares the same first and surname and lives in Thailand as a Thai national.
    4. Her ex sent me her passport.
    5. Another friend provided me with a very old address of hers.
    6. I sent her a message; she said she would call but never did.
    7. We aren't certain it's 100% her.although she is the only person pops up witht at name on facebook .complaint to make in thailnd police but on what grounds we are not 100 % sure if its right person although we now have her passport?

For avoidance of doubt, her Facebook friends and her ex, who are also from her Facebook friends list, provided me with the passport and address after I contacted them. I don't know them personally, which adds to the uncertainty . We don't know if she has a Wise bank account, so she may not be the correct person. However, the name is exceptionally unique; while the individual components of the name (the first and last name separately) might be common, their combination is exceedingly rare, particularly in Thailand. For instance, a name like 'Trump Singh' illustrates how two common names can become highly distinctive when paired together

We searched all social media and Google. Also, a Thai friend of ours searched the equivalent Thai name in Thai, but found no search results. What we have here is her passport and her old address through her cooperating Facebook friend, but this doesn't prove she has a Swiss bank account.

No but you've nailed down a lead.

Thai Credit Reference Agency? Might have updated address?

The question is, even if I find out where she lives, how would I find out if she has a Wise account? Then it will be jackpot

Do you believe the money is still in that account?

Maybe she has spent it all, or maybe 50%, or perhaps she withdrew it all and kept it somewhere safe that we don't know. But clearly, if she hasn't refunded it, it means she will do her best to keep it.

wise would likely have recovered it if it was in her account.

cash is king in thailand as well

Thailand offers more favorable legal costs. Should I hire a lawyer and investigate in Thailand? If we find out that she has a wise account, we intend to file a police complaint. In Thailand, there are serious consequences if money is deposited into one account and used. However, I am confused about jurisdiction, etc. What do you think?"

You should have done that by now, at least made some initial enquiries in Thailand.
