  • 7 months of lies now a admission sort of

Last July united utilities were working on a house next door adjacent to a pumping station. They we’re removing rendering on the house next door to mine. They knocked the rendering off which went over my car they did not knock And ask me to move my car before they carried out the work.i went out and saw the damage that had occurred And went to speak to them, they immediately ceased work and apologised profusely then they immediately left the site. The next day they knocked around and offered me a £100 to clean my car,I refused the money as I wanted a professional opinion as it was bad and went to get a repair estimate from a leading specialist in Liverpool the esitiment was £6500 (current market value of my car £4000) that was due to the damage of the paintwork, glass, rubbers ect as the rendering was imbedded to the car plus I had to pay £90 for this estimate. Carra construction/United utilities denied responsibility and said it was us because I was getting my bathroom done and said I was aware of the damage and lied saying I was out taking photos of my car while workmewas taking place . This was not true the site manager from united utilities stoped the work that day immediately has he would not allow his men work with all the dust, also I can prove that my bathroom was not getting complete on that day. The site manager agreed that the damage was from them and the rendering. I have had 7 months of lies and deceit until I wrote the md of United utilities for a full investigation, only yesterday they emailed and apologised and offered me £200 for a car clean, or they will send somebody to look st the car. Only problem I have now is on the same day I sold the car on at a huge loss , we’re on earth do I stand with this situation now it’s been hell they have had 7months to inspect and sort this out. At the time my car was in my driveway uninsured to to my poor health

    Thanks in advance

            They damaged your car.
            They admit they damaged it.
You have a report supporting those facts
The repair estimate was for £6,500
Your car was valued at £4000 (can you evidence that valuation?)
You sold the vehicle for £xxx
You could claim £4000 less £xxx plus your costs of the report and incidental expenses

Not much, but what do you expect?
Tell (in letter sent first class get free certificate of posting to United Utilities) them you think it is insulting, they have a copy of the independent report and you expect their offer to be £xxx(as calculated post 6).

Remind them of the circumstances and tell them they have 14 days in which to produce a satisfactory offer.
Failure and you will initiate a court claim without further advice
