    The Scary Letters.... RLP and DWF

    Thought I'd pop the standard fayre from RLP in one place.

    So First Letter

    Second Letter

    Third Letter

    Fourth Letter

    Fifth (the name of the DCA varies) letter

    (Seems to be it)

    There are other companies running similar Civil Recovery schemes on behalf of retailers.

    CRS, Drydens and DWF are the main ones.

    CRS generally deal with Travelodge damage/cleaning claims but also swork with some retailers such as B&Q for retail loss claims.

    DWF do civil recovery for Morrisons, Iceland and Sainsburys.

    I'll add examples of their letters here.

          No im on my fourth and my 21 days is up on Saturday so I should receive a letter from debt recovery company next shouldn't I?? And just wondered what happens after that xx

                        Why would they be bothered by legislation? Looks to me like they make it up as they go along. Quoting bits in a response might make them stop littering the doormat a bit sooner but I won’t even pretend to know which bits one could quote!
                        I suppose ignoring them seems to be the best defence at the moment but it would be nice if there was a ‘stock paragraph’ or letter that would halt their gallop after the first demand letter but as I say I haven’t a clue how the new rules should be quoted to do this.

                            What happens if a debt collection agency becomes involved? Can bailiffs turn up to enforce collection or can it damage your credit record?

                            I am concerned that if I just ignore the lot even though mine was a case of forgetting a strawberry jam for 30 pence in a 100 pound shop I could get in serious financial trouble. I am a civil servant and do not want anything that could effect my job.

                              Hi and welcome

                              Debt collectors have no more power than the man in the moon.
                              Like the (un)civil recovery companies they will huff and puff, threaten you with court (whereas only the shop can actually take action), possibly suggest selling your children into slavery and all sorts of things.
                              Just ignore them!
                              If the specialist recovery firms take to referring a case to debt collectors, doesn't it say a lot about the soundness of their case.
                              And by the way, there is no debt, just a company sending out invoices with threats.
