You too candidissou xx

just a bit of additional info for you - rlp took someone to court for an unpaid invoice and the case was dismissed:tinysmile_twink_t2: (see here: http://www.farrarsbuilding.co.uk/lat...-9-May-2012-99 )

HHJ Harris dismissed the Claimant’s claim on the basis that it had not established any loss arising directly from the shoplifting incident. In particular, it was held that the shop had not established any diversion of staff time and that there had been no “significant disruption” to business.

Also just to add that from October RLP's activities will be subject to the Consumer Protection (Amendment) Regulations 2014

Just that the government don't particularly like RLP either xx Although those bits of the rules aren't yet in force it backs up what everyone has advised about ignoring them xx

Re: RLP letter- under 18, help..

@candidissou - don't worry, you won't be taken to court! If you do want to contact them (although I advise against it) then something along the lines of:

Messieurs, en tant que citoyen Français, je vous écris pour vous informer que les lettres que vous envoyez à moi sont injustifiées et inapplicable. Je vous contacte pour aviser que si vous continuez à me harceler de telle manière, je serai forcé de prendre des conseils juridiques, en vue de compter des poursuites judiciaires contre votre entreprise. Correspondance ultérieure sera considérée avec préjudice
should suffice :tinysmile_twink_t2:

One thing that you should remember, is that without police involvement RLP are unable, legally to enforce their claims in France anyway

------------------------------------------------

As for your not quite understanding Amethyst's comment - all she is pointing out is that RLP will be under tighter controls from October than they are now :tinysmile_grin_t:

J'attends avec impatience votre retour

RLP can't enforce their claims anywhere without a court order.
They don't do court any more, and if they try a robust defence would see them off

Kati - a lot of people are advising me to contact them, so as long as they aren't any real threatening letters, I won't but thank you or the example though!!!
alright alright..

yeah well sometimes your language gets a little to complicated for us, french people ! Ok, well it will be kind of too late for him, considering that my mistake has been done before that but could still help!

C'est trop gentil en tout cas, merci de prendre de votre temps pour venir en aide aux personnes sur ce forum.. :* xx

As a parent, I would worry that the law would have me be 'the adult responsible' for the actions of my child if age 16.
There ought be little difference in chasing debts in England or Europe in principle.
In this instance. The goods were retained in the store, so it would be nice if the matter is dropped imho.

As for Police not being called. I would think it was because the goods were retained. The children's details proved to be correct and Stores employ their own security to resolve the matter as their policy dictates within the remit of the law.

No need to worry as in uk age for criminal responsibility is 10 years
There is no single law defining the age of a child in uk, but by age of 16 the person is responsible for his/her own actions.
Parental responsibility extends to protecting, housing and caring for them, & certainly not to taking responsibility for the actions of a 16 year old!

Give them a bloody good hiding and ground them for a month.
