Thanks for the PM as well which Celestine has a copy of. Now that I have read this message then can you tell us how long a customer should wait for a response from your company once they have sent in an email?
What information should they provide to you?
If they have a membership number where in the paperwork that you send to your customers will it be?
Furthermore, is it possible that your customer service team can locate a membership number from simply name and address?

I will reserve judgement on what you have posted until we get some feedback from members/users that go through this process. Please see above and respond and I might have follow up questions. Why would you not see any complaints should the email go to Shop Direct's email since they are the parent company and therefore should be able to direct the email to the appropriate head office?(edited today and this question relates to some information that you stated to me in your private message)

I worked for NatWest Bank which was part of RBS Group so an email to the RBS Group head office should get its way down to Natwest which is why I do not think that part of your post makes any sense.

          Re: Great British Discounts

I do not think that I am a foolish person but was scammed into joining 'Great British Discounts' a few days ago. I bought some sports wear on-line at Millet Sports and once the transaction was complete, confirmation appeared with a link stating "Click here to claim your £15 cash back reward on your order". I naturally assumed that this was from Millet Sport and filled in the necessary form, only to realise (once I had entered it), that this was nothing to do with Millet Sport but was membership of Great British Discounts. I have emailed them, asking for my details to be deleted, the email was acknowledged and I'm waiting for a response.

What I'd like to know is how legal is it to trick people into signing up in this way? The link is clearly there to mislead. As I said, I am no fool but was fooled by this and, checking the internet, others also have in the same way on different web sites. Had there just been an ad for Great British Discounts, I would have ignored it.

What is puzzling me is how these 'links' end up on Milletts etc websites?

I am aware of several good chargeback websites who are genuinely affiliated with large retailers....so not sure how this is happening. I'll make some calls.
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

OK I've done some checking and had a conversation with Joe Walsh at GBD.

The affiliates with Milletts, Littlewoods etc are genuine.

GBD is a third party website and the link to them appears after the transaction on the retailers site is completed.

If you want to cancel your membership or have a dispute, Joe has stated refunds will be offered to anyone with a dispute. If you find this not to be the case please post here, as GBD are highly aware of the negative press this is receiving.

please contact Joe Walsh or any customer care member at
customerservice@greatbritishdiscounts.co.uk or call us on freephone number 0800 0394053

                    Re: Great British Discounts

I had an issue with these a few months ago, my point was that this was advertised as a FREE gift.

I am not sure how a refund can compensate for being duped into signing up for a discount scheme.

I am awaiting a response from my complaint(below), following a reply from my initial query from a Christine Smith

"Even so, if the card containing the £20 does arrive after the 30 day period
the first installment would have been taken out of the applicants account
reducing the value of the "free" offer.

Also I feel that the fact that there will be a monthly fee payable in order
to qualify for this offer is not made sufficiently clear in the
advertisement nor is the amount of this payment.

In short I feel that we are being miss-led into thinking that this is
a reward for our custom to Littlewoods, when in reality it is an
introductory offer to another commercial concern"

They have not yet responded, my issue is more about the misleading way the product is marketed.

I'm glad you spoke to him as they clearly didn't bother to respond to my email to them(see posted above) albeit I am more forceful in my approach since I was fed what I felt was some BS by them.

                        Re: Great British Discounts

to whom it may concern great british discounts is a trading name or logo of the holding company L-EV8 MARKETING LIMITED which is an irish company incorparated 0n the 19th november 2010 its pevious name was NASLAN LIMITED.the company has 4 listed directors two with addresses in the republic of ireland and two in the u.s.a. its head office is listed as 33 fitzwilliam square Dublin 2 irealand.i have left there direct landline phone number that i phoned from outside there building on another website.you should get the holding company internet home page from an internet search engine,i came into contact with them through flybe.com,in my opinion alot of the companys great british discounts are doing bussiness with are as culpable as the holding company L-EV8 MARKETING LIMITED,the likes of flybe.com try to say its a third party company taking my money but i did not sign up for any 14.99 membership,flybe.com offered me from there server £20 back on my flight and i had to the best of my knoledge paid them with a bank card of some type and then the page goes to ask me for my bank details sort code and account number for my refund, after giving then that a pop up comes up to say im signing up to £14.99 membership per month to great british discounts with the first month free which i try to close, obviously this is where the issue is and it wont stop or close, i didnt sign up to anything,i never got £20 back as i didnt continue with the transaction and get 2 emails one is supposed to be an activation email and the other is a membership card with no number, they are both no reply emails.i only realize this after the second month comes around and 14.99 goes out of my account,i go into my uk high street bank to get a block put on this and they say it could take 31days and they may get another payment but it will be refunded by the bank as ive reported the unothorized transaction, sadly this doesnt stop and they get 2 months when i contact the bank they refund me tthe 2 i have a block on then to my disbelief they take one in december,i went to there office i week ago and phoned from outside the building and told them that if they didnt refund my money and get this stoped i would be ouside there building on monday morning last with a plackard as is the right of anybody under irsh law to protest peacefully without bearing arms, article 40 ii of the constitution of the republic of ireland.i met a td on monday morning and informed them of the problem,a td is the same as an mp in uk terms.i contacted them monday after noon outlining what was going to happen regarding a protest and i got a half hearted personal email appoligy but i never joined any membership of anything, the money is supposed to have been back in my account as an employee phoned me yesterday. this company is ida approved that means iit recieves support from the irish government for investing in this country and creating jobs whilst been granted a low corporation tax rate of roughly 12%. hope you all get your issues resolved

Received a letter from Littlewoods last week but mislaid this thread.

It confirms what we thought. "As a direct result of your complaint we have changed the advertisement included on our web page, it now includes full details of the offer".

So there you are a minor victory for the Beagles.

I've cancelled my membership and posted my claim form at the start of April in order to receive my Mastercard giftcard. I hadnt received it a couple of weeks ago so i called to chase it and they apologised and said i would get it within a week. I still havent received it so i phoned again. Another apology and a promise of getting it within a couple of weeks. I know that my claim form was received on 11 April because i have the tracking number. I advise anyone not to use this organisation.
