  • entitled to any benefits??

    hi my son girlfriendamd 6 week old daughter are staying at her mums house. Son has just got a full time job after being out of work for 4 months. girlfriend on maternity leave from work. is there any benefits they are entitled too. they are paying rent to mum. think mum maybe claiming some form of tax credit not sure what for her self?

    Child Benefit definately, probably working tax and child tax credits (depending on income) - does girlfriend get SMP ?

    Rent wise, does the mum declare it as income ? If not then could cause problems Son & GF claiming for any help with rent - although that would depend on what wage he earns.

      They may also qualify for the Sure Start Maternity Grant and the Healthy Start voucher scheme which is also available for people that are on certain benefits or earn a low income.

        hi thanku for all the help so far folks xxx
        my son has been offered a job in prison service and his girlfriend wants to go back to work. their combined wages will be around 35. this sounds alot but he has matienance and reoayments for previous debts as well as cost of moving back to london and living.
        r theyentitled to help with childcare? if she returns to work in february? r their any other benefits they can claim in the mean time if they move up in the next few months and find a flat of their own?
        all help appreciated as this is a mine field and they dont know where to start

          Should be entitled to some help with childcare - also look into salary sacrifice vouchers which make it cheaper.
          He'll get a good idea from here www.entitledto.co.uk he can put in various scenarios to see what they will get.
