  • Chq time for successful claims

Hi all I recieved a letter from mbna saying that I may have been mi sold ppi on a number of loans I had had from them stretching back 15 years I filled in the questionnaire sent with the letter and then a couple of weeks later recieved a letter saying it was being dealt with I have then just recieved a letter today ( with 22nd julys date on ) saying that my complaint is being upheld and that I am due a whopping 6036.59 back to say I am overjoyed is an understatement it means all my little piddly debts can be paid off and I'm able to breathe for the first time in years lol the question that I'm posing is it says payment will be sent within 28 days I'm assuming by chq as my accounts were closed years ago will I get the chq within 28 days ? Has anyone else had success and recieved payment and was it in the said timescale. There is no number to ring them on just a postal address I'm excited but also a little scared lol any help appreciated thanks for reading x

Good result!! I would think that you are correct cheque payment as there is no accounts to offset the refund against.

How long is a piece of string I suspect there are considerable numbers of people waiting for cheques if the creditor has stated within 28 days that's the time scale.

Which is why I am posting asking for advice from others who have been in the same situation not someone who is measuring by a piece of string x

I am just attempting to advise you that times are variable the is no guarantee of a particular time that you will receive payment each and every case is different.

Re: Chq time for successful claims

I'm furious just received a letter this morning I assumed it was the chq to be told that due to an administrative error the ppi refund was slightly incorrect by 76.90 and they are very sorry for their error and hope it's not too inconvenient that's not the problem the problem is you will receive payment in full within 28 days what another 28 days bringing the date up to possibly the 4 th September from the 22 nd July it's not on what about all the extra interest on my account for them days has anyone else been through this drama of a company ? My husband is ringing them this lunchtime on his break as they won't speak to me with it not being in my name he better get some answers grr pathetic

If it were me, I'd be complaining that their 'error' has in fact caused you a problem just because the extra delay is losing you the 28days worth of interest! They shouldn't have given you a figure to begin with if they weren't 100% sure ... and making you wait a further 28days is not acceptable IMO

Re: Chq time for successful claims

I think that although this is somewhat annoying the fact is that a mistake has been made and the mistake has been acknowledged and it being corrected, a 28 day time scale is nominal and does not mean to my mind that it will take the bank 28 days to send out the refund cheque.

There's also the point that although we all expect our complaints/requests etc. to go straight to the top of the pile and be dealt with immediately it's just no going happen especially in the realms of PPI refunds where there are perhaps hundreds of thousand of people may be millions waiting for answers/refunds at any given point.

Well why couldn't they notify my husband of this mistake within the last 20 days seeing as he rang up twice last week I don't care about anyone else's claim it's not acceptable to wait another 28 days they could have sent the chq out with the new breakdown but no it's all delaying Tactics to pay out what they owe it's not on

Your next point of complaint should be a Formal Complaint Addressed to a responsible director of the bank, this means the bank must fully investigate and respond to a complaint within 56 days, or ask the bank for a copy of its " complaints procedure" keep contact in writing as most " call centre/customer service" operatives cannot make any meaningful decisions.

And you can bet MBNA will have underpaid you by at least 30%
