  • PPI Claim for unpaid debt

    Hello,

I'm looking for some advice in regards to some loans that I took out with Chartered Trust (Black Horse). I took several loans out with them between 1999 - 2003.

I was making payments via direct debit and never missed a payment, until November 2003. I was then involved in a serious car accident which left me unable to work. As a result I couldn't pay my full mortgage payment, let alone pay my loans. I was forced in to selling my home to a quick buy company or my home would have been repossessed.

I then spent the next 6 years sleeping rough and sofa surfing.

I'm not proud of the fact but I never repaid my loans to charted trust.

My ordeal ended 5 years ago and I've now turned my life around.

My question is could I reclaim the missold ppi or would it just open a huge can of worms and put me back in a position of struggling and potentially losing my home again ?

When I took the loans out the adviser basically waved a cheque for the loan amount in my face and told me that if I didn't sign for the insurance I wouldn't get the loan.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Also I'd like to add I don't have any of the paper work for the loans.

    Thanks

      Hi and welcome

Sorry to hear of your issues.

If you dont mind me asking, did you try making a reclaim on the PPI when you had that bad accident? Or was you not aware you had PPI?

When was the last time you heard from Black Horse?
So was it 2003 the last payment made?

I am not sure what info they will still hold with it being so old and if you've not heard from them for some time, but a reclaim on the PPI they may ask for the account numbers in order to track them down, and its possible if they still hold details they will realise there is debt owing, but please wait for another opinion on this first.
