Hi all - had a similar problem to OP. Spoke with a friend in the know and hes advised me to report 1-tick to the FCA. They are claiming to be debt collectors but apparently they dont have the correct license to collect debt s so this is a CRIMINAL OFFENCE. Also the owner (gary gregson) of 1-tick seems to be a past owner of Gregson Brookes so it appears he is trying to collect the debt of his previous firm. Looking at the other threads as amethyst said, Gregson Brooke seems to have disappeared and owe a lot of money so it seems they are trying avoid what owe and collect the rest through another one of his firms. Finally, in the terms and conditions you put up, it doesnt say anywhere that hey can sell the debt on so you should ask to see why they have done. Probably a breach of data protetcion. Hope this helps. Ive not heard from them since i reported them......

Claims management fees aren't usually covered by the Consumer Credit Act and as such a consumer credit licence isn't required to collect debts resulting from them.

Hi all

Just a quick update, since I sent my letter on 26th March I have not heard from One Tick. I will keep you updated when I get a response or if bailiffs know on my door *panic*. I did however recieve a 'PPI claim pack' from one Tick claiming to have taken over my business from Gregson & Brooke and to sign the docs and they will look in to the other claims.....yeah right as if im signing anything else, took them nearly 3 years to realise they were supposed to working on my other claims!

Thanks jP54, I too noticed that the terms say they cant 'sell' the debt on but I dont think that matters? I hope it does though that would be good! Maybe a thought for my next letter if they ever respond.
