  • Old egg ppi claim

Hi. Wonder if someone can help. I had two egg credit cards both with ppi. I contacted Canada Sq re mis selling and had smaller card limit upheld. Higher limit refused on basis of Internet application and no advice given.
Now my husband pplied for card at same time over Internet and has just had his claim for misslling upheld!

How can one be refused and one upheld? Both pplicationd done on Internet within minutes of each other and no advice given on either.

any advice on how to move forward plz. I would add my cards paid off in Jun 2007. My husbands cards being paid off at present.

    Hi there

Write back and tell them you are disappointed with the outcome on one of the Credit Card PPI complaint and note it was for the higher amount you paid, but you do not agree despite it being an application online, as you would not have wasted your's and their time on making the complaint in the first place if you didnt think you had one.

What actual reason did they give to reject your complaint, for eg, application completed online and you could have opted out etc? If this was the case then write back and tell them it was already added to the account and you did believe it was all part of the application.

May I ask if you also had any pre med conditions at the time it was sold to you? if so then do also mention this, tell them you also want to make them aware you had a pre-med condition and you are now aware you would not have made a successful claim if you were to ever have made one.
Did you work full time or part time hours at the time of the application? If only part time hours, for eg 18 or 16 hours or less, then you would not have been eligible to make a successful claim.
If you were employed at the time it was sold to you, did your employer already cover you for sickness, for eg, 6 months to a year? Then you make them aware that you already had sufficient cover in place.

I think what they are implying is that because it was not sold face to face, it would not have been discussed with you, so no advice would have been given if it was an online application.
However, if your hubby had the same reasons where they upheld on one and not the other, that is a little odd too.

But do write back and ask them to review by 14 days and tell them you are not happy with the outcome because...etc and if you have any further info to give them, also state that you would also like this opportunity to give them further information for them to take into account.

Did they say if the decision was final or not?
If they did then write/email the CEO (Chief Executive officer) Manager and copy it to the complaints team and raise your concerns by giving him or her 14 days to write back and also say that if hear nothing further by 14 days or if they do not overturn the decision, you will be considering taking matters further.

Good luck, please keep us posted, cheers.

Thanks for your advice. Yeah as my husband and I both made online applications the same evening, I found it odd that they upheld his claim.
The reason they gave me was applied online etc and no advice given. Did say it was final response.

funnily I do have pre existing med conditions, back and neck problems following a fall years ago. Also asthma. Finally I would have been paid in full for 12 months had I been out f work ill.

will write today as suggested. Thanx so much.

Just received a reply today following your advice. Standard letter I think saying no change in earlier letter, however if anything further comes to light to contact them again. My time limit for contacting Financial Ombudsman runs out on 9 March so I have today filed my complaint with them enclosing all necessary info and documentation. I have however never emailed CEO. Do you know email address etc and who to contact. If I cud find this out I will email CEO explaining my discontent. thanks again.

The EGG CEO used to have its details listed on the list of CEO address on google search but its been removed.

          You can however try the form on the link below to query this with the Editor here;
          http://www.ceoemail.com/ceoemail-contact.php
Click on Contact the Editor and say you've been seeking the CEO details of EGG now dealt with by Citi bank.

So sorry of the complaints dept not overturning the decision, and hope the editor of CEO search will provide you with the CEO email address for you.

          Good luck x

            Re: Old egg ppi claim

Hi. Following on from your advice, I have received a further letter in response to my email. All it is is a letter referring me to earlier decision and saying after consideration, no change in decision.
however they have not given me any reasons for not overturning decision based on further info supplied.
i would also say I also made them aware of identical claim submitted on second Egg credit card account, also taken out online and identical scenario and this cLiam was upheld.
Surely they should state their reasons for not overturning decision.
This week I have had my DLA reviewed and taken off me so cud I use financial hardship to push FOS on case? If so, howling do you think it wud take FOS to deal with this case

sorry for being long winded but I dot know whether to go back to Egg and request reasons or straights FOS.
            Thank you so much

                Hi there
Am so sorry for them not overturning this for you.

Did you actually sent this to the CEO?

Its poor practice of them not giving you an explanation or reasons!

Well you can ask about fast track due to financial hardship and any illnesses that you may have that may cause you further undue distress etc, no harm in asking.

It's difficult to give a timescale as there are so so many, but they should keep you updated every 2 to 3 months x

                  Re: Old egg ppi claim

                  Hi Joico,

I have found the staff at the FOS superb. If you e mail FOS, give them a brief outline of your circumstances and they will come back to you. It will take 3 or 4 weeks, with the volume of e mails that they are getting. Make sure that you have your phone number on the mail. If you qualify for a "financial hardship" review, then that is terrific, if not then you have not lost out on anything. (If you have a FOS reference number please put this in the mail)

With regard to Di's other suggestion of going to the CEO, that is excellent advice. It is worth doing a bit of research to find out his/her name. The advice from the regulator is that the "company must be given every chance to deal with a complaint" therefore that in my book, means going to the CEO.

As far as I can see, the CEO usually has a different team that looks after their complaints.

                  Hope this helps.

                  All the best,

                  :beagle:

Hi Liverpool 64. Thanx so much for your advice. I did email the CEO and the letter which came ack stating no change was apparently signed by him. So think as you ll guest ,leave matters with FOS. I am disappointed that they ve not given any reasonable answer to my points recently raised, but I know I am not alone in shoddy treatment from Egg.
