  • PPI scam Lifestyle claims Help please

Please help I need advice. I got involved with Lifestyle claims (I stupidly now know I should not have), to take on my PPI claims. I asked all the correct questions and did not even rush into signing up with them and spoke to them at great lengths as to how safe my deposit was and given so many guarantees I am not really a stupid person and am very careful with my money ...

They in fact did win for me in September and promised to forward my deposit of £2,159. I kept ringing into October and kept being told that a letter would be sent and I should sign it and send it back and I would have my cheque in the return post that week. The letter never came. Then I got a letter dated 30th October from Sharma & Co saying that lifestyle claims had gone into administration but the company is still trading as it has been bought out by Redhawke UK.. So 2 months after my claim was completed and well before this happened I should have had my money back.
    Is this Fraud?

    What can I do?
I have spoken to Sharma and they are not much help and told me I would probably not get my money back, they told me I can get it back off my Visa debit card that I used to pay the deposit with. Is this correct? I just need guidance and where to go next and who to contact. I am so upset and have not stopped crying. I can ill afford to lose this money.
    Please Help…

You could apply to get your deposit back through 'Chargeback' on your debit card - there's some information on it here http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-righ...d-debit-cards/

You should be able to claim under section 75 - they have not provided you with a service.

This company is now in administration so not entirely sure if section 75 is still correct to claim back from your credit card provider for Lifestyle Claims. But in any case it is worth a shot.

Please do not get confused there is another company called Lifestyle Money operating from the same building and possibly from the same office with a different Ministry of Justice authorisation number.

STOP PRESS.... It has also just come to our attention this morning that a company called Redhawk have taken over Lifestyle Claims. Now we do not have absolute proof of this yet, but maybe it is worth giving them a call to see if the rumours are true and if they have taken of the debts of this company as well?

I think Shellyt paid with a debit card which needs to be done through 'chargeback' as sec 75 only applies to credit cards.

Thanks Tuttsi, I have found out tonight that the info you have is correct. The MOJ have told me that they are not allowed to carry on with Lifestyle claims open cases!! Interesting.... Also when you ring lifestyles number it still answers with Lifestyle claims and at no point tonight on the phone to them did they actually tell me they were Redhawke!! Until I got it out of her. The MOJ have advised me to contact the Action Fraud and explain to them as there is a lot of unusual things going on. Also Lifestyle never intended to pay me back my deposit, since the begining of September I had been told I would get a cheque in the post up until 8th October, when surely they knew. Oddly the company chnaged hands on 12th October theeby avoiding any legal responsibility to its customers, Redhawke are now currently picking up with all the open cases of Lifestyle.

We here at Legal Beagles have also contacted today the MOJ and are awaiting a response from them.

Another company is also purporting to have taken on Lifestyle Claims cases - Ultimate Law and we have also asked the MOJ to clarify the position.

Lifestyle are in administration and they should have repaid you whilst they were still trading.

I presume you will as the MOJ has suggested contact the action fraud team.

If you hear any more news please keep us informed.

              Many thanks

TONY HETHERINGTON: Fees up front...then claims firm goes bust

                  By TONY HETHERINGTON
                  PUBLISHED: 22:21, 27 October 2012 | UPDATED: 22:21, 27 October 2012

Or rather, it was fully licensed when it pocketed your money more than a year ago after confidently saying it could recover payments you made under loan agreements.

Surprise: The website of Lifestyle Money, which has the same address at Swansea as Lifestyle Claims, which had attracted many complaints

Afterwards, Lifestyle Claims asked for old documents that you simply did not have, and you have been trying to get your money back ever since.

I contacted the Swansea company on your behalf in August and again repeatedly since then. It failed to offer any comment. However, on September 19 the Ministry of Justice slapped conditions on to Lifestyle Claims’ licence, including a ban on upfront fees. And on October 16, Companies House revealed that Client Connection had fallen into administration.

The company is no longer licensed and I am afraid it is unlikely you will see any refund. It will be little comfort to learn that you are not alone. Lifestyle Claims has attracted so many complaints for letting customers down after taking upfront fees – typically about £300 per claim such as yours – that the Ministry was forced to act.
But what will surprise you is this. Some clients of Lifestyle Claims say they received paperwork from the similarly named Lifestyle Money, based at the same Swansea address. This is a name used by All Debt Solutions Limited, which is also licensed by the Ministry of Justice.Until December 2010, a director of All Debt Solutions was local businessman Damian Cleverly. At the same time, under the name Damian Spooner-Cleverly, he was also a director of Client Connection, and the Lifestyle Claims website is still registered to him, under yet another name, Damian Spooner.

He is also company secretary of Swansea-based Convergence Business Solutions, and three months ago that company took on a new director – Client Connection boss Ryan Stanton. It is good to know that he won’t be short of a crust after the failure of Lifestyle Claims.

Seeing this financial merry-go-round, I bet that the Ministry is turning its attention to All Debt Solutions, alias Lifestyle Money. Of course, what is really needed is beefed-up regulation. The Ministry told me a few days ago: ‘As a result of our investigation into consumer complaints against the company, Client Connection Limited, trading as Lifestyle Claims, is no longer authorised to provide claims management services.’

And next April, the Ministry will bring complaints under the Legal Ombudsman.

But there are no plans for a compensation scheme like this for other financial services. So if a claims firm goes broke, or shuts down after complaints are upheld, customers will still lose out.

                  Not good enough.

Hi Tuttsi already done my dear they are now handing over to the fraud squad (police). Dear oh dear this seems to just be getting worse how can 2 companies deal with Lifestyle work? That is exactly what MOJ said, they knowingly lied to me especially on the 2 phone calls in October!! His exact words were that they deliberately avoided their legal liability to its customers to keep them informed and repay the money. There is also the possibilty that these companies may well be one and the same also??
I have also contacted my bank earlier on tonight and they are putting my claim through whether or not I get refunded or how much, but at least I feel I have done something. A close friend of mine was also about to sign up to a PPI company, the company were even sending a courier this Thursday to sign them up with their bank account details etc. Not any more they are not... At least if nothing else I have stopped someone from getting stung. Thank you again hun. I will keep you informed as when I hear anything else xx

Re: PPI scam Lifestyle claims Help please

Would it surprise you to know we alerted the MOJ back in August when we had a meeting with them face to face at their offices in London. Not only did we highlight that Lifestyle Money and Lifestyle Claims two different Ltd companies acting together from basically the same office address with some of the directors on both companies and confusing people who thought they were with Lifestyle Money found that suddenly they were with Lifestyle Claims. Shortly after our meeting the MOJ put serious restrictions on Lifestyle Claims by them not being to take up front fees and that their were monitoring the complaints. Once this happened they very quickly went in to administration. We hoped this would at least save others being duped and scammed.

It seemed that Lifestyle Money were cold calling and the money was taken by Lifestyle Claims without consent from the card holder just to confuse everyone. It is this type of scam that the serious fraud office should be very interested in.

I personally have been campaigning about these type of scams for3/4 years since I was first contacted by Cento Client Review when they only asked me for £49.99 (their name was similar to Cartel Client Review - who went down owing millions) - they then changed their name to Money saving E..... very similar to Martin Lewis's site and Martin Lewis got them to change their name yet again and then they settled for Lifestyle Claims and then started Lifestyle Money - just to confuse the members of the public. Both companies are separate Ltd Companies but appear to have the same work address and share some of the same directors.

They once told a CAG member that I was an ex gruntled employee..... and on another occassion they told people that my husband was in litigation with them and lost hence why I bad mouthed them. The directors have turned up on here bad mouthing me but the site was having none of it and sent him away and made him look stupid.

This why I take a personal interest in this case as well as other Claims Management Companies who scam the public. I just hope that the serious fraud office will take all these people to task and if there is a public trial I hope to be there and watch all the proceedings and see this lot jailed for their part in scamming serious amounts of money from the public.

Claims Management Companies are authorised by the MOJ not Finacial Services, so would not be counter productive going to them.

Coming soon there will be a special body called LEo (Legal Ombudsman) who will look after complaints from this type of band of companies and will be able to give compensation if they find that the client has been mistreated. http://www.legalombudsman.org.uk/dow...nouncement.pdf

Hi all again. I am just not getting any where fast with either the bank or Sharma and co. The bank have told me today that they will not refund me back the money on the chargeback system and have closed my complaintas of last week wqithout informing why or that they were going to close it. I have just come off the phone to Santander and asked why is that other banks have paid back the deposits to other customers of lifestyle claims when they have also used their debit cards, for the same reason I was applying to get mine back. Shrama and co have now written to say they are not paying out either so where on earth do I go from here? I am so upset and angry no one seems to want to help at all.... Is there any where else I can go and contact to help reclaim my money back?
