Hi Guys

Had a car on HP and the finance was arranged through a broker - all back in 2006. Included in the agreement was PPI + couple of other insurances, all welcome products, and all arranged by the broker, (he actually told me the insurances were included in the price).

Welcome also paid the broker a secret commission for both the loan and the insurances - and i have evidence of this.

I have been in dispute on this for a year with Welcome now. They state that the policy was mis-sold by the broker and it is them i should contact ref: mis-sale.

But it is Welcomes policy, and it is Welcome that are taking the money, and was Welcome that paid the commission - should Welcome also be liable?

What was the name of the broker at the point of the sale?
What was the name of the underwriter of the PPI, at the same time?

Do you have copies of the agreement ? If so it would be useful to see them as well as the questions Angry Cat has asked and these;

Are you solely trying to reclaim the PPI ?

What is the situation with the debt now ?

Broker was called Car Credit Converters - based in Derby
Underwiter of PPI - good question - was welcome policy - administered by Direct Group - think underwriter was Norwich Union about 95% sure - but will check that out and confirm.

I have not made any payments on debt for over a year - i told them i was refusing to pay untill issue resolved - (wrightly - or wrongly).

Am attempting to claim all insurances.

Yes i have agreement and i will scan and upload it in the morning.
Having not got anywhere i have now quoted Hurstanger V Wilson ref: secret commissions - am waiting for reply on that.

We had the same, Welcome have always refused to name the broker in this case but I recall it was "Black Horse" they did agree mis-sold ppi but what arrived was what appeared to be a new agreement i refused to sign this and it went back to the FOS and it still with them after almost a year .
