  • Belmont Thorntons

Hi all long time since i posted on here.

I got a letter the other day from Belmont thorntons which are a company that deals with PPI claims but since wat happened with the last company that tried this im a bit cautious. Now the letter claims its a no win no fee which they website also states on it aswell but im still unsure and would like another opinion as to go with them of not. So any advice would really be cool. One last note i didnt find anything at all on the net saying they are a scam or any other info thats negative.

    thanks

Why are you needing to go with a claims management company?

Yep just do it yourself, the FOS are upholding and securing refunds for the majority of cases and you do not need a CMC to do it.

Actually a nice paragraph in their annual report yesterday.

      payment protection insurance

If your complaint is about the sale of payment protection insurance (PPI), you will also need to have completed the separate payment protection insurance consumer questionnaire.
You may have done this already – if you have already complained directly to the business you think is responsible. If not, you can download the questionnaire as a Word document – or phone us for a copy on 0300 123 9 123.

Oh and some people say that the FOS will get you less back, but remember they are free so you get it ALL, with the claims company they may get a bit more out of the bank/company, but they'll take more and leave you with less.

          Hi Ghastos

Yep the FOS will cut out the middle man, hence you will not have any fees to pay as the FOS do not charge. You really have nothing to lose by using the FOS whereas if you use Belmont Thornton you will have a fee to pay and you will be restricted under their T&C's.

I agree there is nothing adverse on the web and they have been going since 2007 according to their web site.

Do you have PPI? and were you mis-sold this?

Since you were last on here there has been unfortunately quite a lot of CMC's that have had their authorisation suspended or cancelled and some of the larger ones as well.

Belmount Thorton are so slow its untrue,This is part of the reason We are going it alone also they look for payment before company pays out and they do not ask for standard 8% on top of any claims. We wish we had never heard of them.

I have to tell you Do Not use this company.
My friend went with them in Nov2009 with 4 claims and now just this week after all the lies my friend has been told by them they phoned the FOS to find out what was happening and the FOS informed them that all paperwork was sent back to Belmont Thornton on the 17th May 2010 as it was not filled in properly and had closed the file
Yet Bel/Thorn said to my friend that it was just taking time as so many claims were being dealt with by the FOS.
So my friend has in fact lost a year almost with the lies etc BELMONT THORTON have told to them. When my friend asked to speak to some one in the complaints dept he was told he would have to put it in writing or e-mail that dept. as they had no phone number He has now sent e-mails asking them to phone him ASAP but to no avail
So Please DO NOT USE THEM

                  Re: Belmont Thorntons

I have several claims ongoing with Belmont Thornton for PPI and credit card charges to date I have had 4 wins ? They are asking for payments between £10-£37 for reclaiming these charges for me. As I was in financial difficulties beforehand I thought any monies I won would be refunded to me by cheque, instead is being taken of balance owed on credit cards.Belmont Thornton send me a copy of their invoice before I have recieved an offer from my creditors, when I do recieve these letters along witg acceptance formif I dont signthis form not accepting offer, am I obliged to pay Belmont Thornton a claim management fee. If I do pay I will be going further into debt and causing a lot of friction at home Iwould appreciate any help
