  • Unexpected Cheque from Shop Direct for "compensation"

My husband is currently trying to reclaim ppi from shop direct. Today, he received a cheque with no covering letter... just the words "compensation". Any ideas what this could be for/anybody had the same experience. Many thanks

lol, someone forgot to put the letter in the envelope with the cheque. I'd get hubby to give Shop Direct a ring to see what it is, and whether it is a refund of PPI etc or if it's something else. How much is the cheque for ?

This should be the PPI team - Phone: 0800 015 8512

Hi there. Many thanks for your reply. Its for £390.. much lower than we were expecting. Strange it says "compensation" though? Appreciate you asking your husband x

haha I can ask him but I doubt he'd have anything interesting to say

It is odd it says Compensation. These things are normally cleared up with a phone call. When YOUR hubby does call them, if there's anything important tell him to ask them to 'confirm that in writing'.

You can call and say he's asked you to call for him, so long as he is with you and can just confirm to them that that is okay with him - he might have to do the security bits ( first line address and whatnot )
