  • Hiya! - Cartel / Blue Domino

Just popped in to say Hi.

I'm a victim of my own stupidity and of Cartel.

Maybe I am one of the lucky ones as I paid by visa debit card and the bank is considering my claim.

Just thought I would share what I found out about this mob. We all know the Carl Wright connection to Eric Webb, but as I discovered in my digging, my payment went through a company called Blue Domino, this is registered to Eric Wright. Him of Grassroots. Now My agent wasn't Eric or his wife, my claims (yes there were 2) were only put in in early February this year. So already they knew there was a problem and were syphoning the money off.

Mr. Webb can be contacted on 0845 1170125, I have tried, but apparently he won't be back in the office until Monday. Will try again.

Grass Roots are being investigated and hopefully that means Blue Domino are being investigated too. Lots of payments went through as Blue Domino.

People are struggling with their refunds via the Card companies so do let us know what they come back with shell.

I presume you are keeping an eye on the thread on scam.com too - some of the issues with refunds are coming up on there so seems a good central point of info for anyone claiming fees back from card co's or trying to get money back from Cartel.

            Best of luck xx

Oh and when you get your refund and your paperwork back (if ever) don't go being sucked in by any other CMCs claiming they can help. Listen to today's moneybox too - first item - BBC iPlayer - Money Box: 27/03/2010

              Re: Hiya!

              Thanks for that folks,

Doubt I'll get any paperwork back as I only signed up with them at the beginning of February this year. The two cheques I sent for the DSAR's were never cashed, so I doubt they had even started.

As for going wit another CMC, well I should have followed my gut instinct in the first place. I always thought CMC's were vultures, so why I veered I don't know. I do believe I might just become the biggest anti CMC advocate ever.

I'll let you know what happens, if anything happens with the chargeback thing.

                Thanks hun please do.

you got sucked in because they are very very good at selling their ''products'' and times are bloody tough at the moment and people feel let down by regulators and the credit industry as a whole - so it feels like a way out whilst they are shmoozing you to get your money. Once those 14 days are up they don't give a hoot.

                  Re: Hiya! - Cartel

Shell - because your payment went through Blue domino you may run into difficulties with that, so we have to show that they are an associated company (as under section 184 of the CCA 1974(amended) ) We'll deal with that as and when possible, but you should keep writing to Cartel, AND also write to Mr Webb at the itchington address asking for a refund.

Re: Hiya! - Cartel / Blue Domino

I have just spoken to Eric Webb of Blue Domino/Grassroots fame. Apparently on one of the many bits of paper I signed there should have been a bit in the small print saying that Blue Domino would be taking the money from my account. He will now attemt to retrieve said copy with my signiture and send it to me.

"Of course this will be very difficult for him, blah de blah de blah....., but he will try."

                    The waiting game continues.

ah now that will be interesting and helpful to show the association and others with similar issues.

Re: Hiya! - Cartel / Blue Domino

I had a phone call out of the blue last week from a chap I spoke to a couple of months ago in Cartel. I contacted Cartel on the back of some of the sucess stories I had heard. They said that I had a good chance of getting at least £5000 back on two secured loans but wanted money upfront, which I refused and left it there. Last week the chap called back and said that as of this week they are not charging ANY unfront fees and 30% cut if they are sucessful. I said I was interested as I have tried myself to see if I can get anywhere with regard to hidden commissions and broker fees, but It is over my head and with family members not well, I thought I would have nothing to lose. This chap caught me in the middle of making dinner but I was a puzzled afterwards that he did not really refer to himself as working for Cartel anymore, now I see why after haven just read these posts. He said he would come and see me the next time he was in the area and discuss it further. My gut feeling tells me to proceed with great caution. Any thoughts?

Your gut feeling should say ''stay well clear''. seriously. Look up Teasdale v HSBC on bailli. As well as the preceeding Carey v HSBC .

whats the agents name ? (pm me if you like)

have you put your agreements up on here or Cag btw ? at least give yourself a fighting chance of not getting in deep water without merit.

Ruby, I wouldn't be surprised if the company is Grassroots. This was set up to take over from Cartel. Not officially of course.

                            I would run a mile.

Thanks for the advice. He did not give his last name. I did post the agreements up a few months ago but nobody thought I would have much sucess. In the T & C's it said that a commission would be paid to the broker which meant that in the agreement it looked like a broker fee and a commission had been paid on the loan without our knowledge, therefore the broker was not independant as he had made us out to believe.
