Top Story Claims management company sues rival for defamationWednesday 14th October 2009
Last week, the claims management company Credit Issues sent a press release announcing that it would be suing rival firm Cartel and its chief executive, Carl Wright for defamation. This move follows a recent article published, in which Cartel apparently insinuated that Credit Issues had advised a consumer in the recent case against Royal Bank of Scotland, which the bank won. The company has said that it had no dealings with the consumer in the case and added: “Cartel should check their facts before releasing misleading information.” Lee Lipson, Legal Services Director at Credit Issues, said: “As a company we are becoming extremely tired of the factually incorrect information consistently espoused by Carl Wright of Cartel. Last week he claimed the case in the South Shields County Court set a legal precedent. This is legally incorrect.”
Cartel was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press, but Debt Management Today will be sure to watch how this spat in the controversial sector unfolds.
