  • Unsolicited Payday Loan

Wonga made an unsolicited loan to a client who had previously received a loan from them. They had retained his PIN and Bank Account details. When he offered a straight repayment they insisted on fees and Interest. We are keen to find out if this was a 'one off' on their part or a regular marketing ploy targeting the vulnerable.

      Re: Unsolicited Payday Loan

Never know a payday lender to ask for a persons pin number for their card. I also think the banks will be very unhappy about wonga asking people for their pins if they really did ask for it.

Also as he never took out the second loan nor agreed to it, then under distance selling regulations it is unsolicited and can be treated as an unconditional gift. Though i bet he would have to fight it in court, and would face wonga trashing his credit file prior to that.
