My friend reveived an email from Wonga saying to go onto portal to see if she is due a refund .I said no hang fire .. she took around 3 or 4 loans in 2012 last one was written off .. a ) Is 2012 not outside time lines ? B ) Is there a way this could reactivate written off loan C ) Why are they not auto refunding why does she have to claim very odd , any ideas or clarification please Seems odd

This gets stranger my chum has received second email appears legit ie https saying she needs to file two separate claims via portal .. her debt was written off but she had paid original can anyone clarify implications of this . Had payday loans in past so interested also concerned if it can reawken her written off loans .. anyone know ??

If your friend had multiple loans/rollovers etc leading to a write off there could well be a claim for monies paid over the amount borrowed. However the refunds are going to be very low because the company is in administration and it'll be pence per pound. It really depends on your friends individual circumstances whether she wants to put a claim in but the written off loan won't be affected. That may already cover any refund she might have been due had she carried on paying it though.

You can claim a refund from existing loans and loans you've already paid off, as long as you raise the case within six years of taking out the loan (if it's longer than six years, contact the FOS as in some circumstances, you may still be able to claim)
