Hi can anyone advise. I was searching for loans a while ago but didnt realise what I was doing and a company called I-loans direct took £54.99 from my account. I filled in a cancellation form and received this email from them

"We can confirm receipt of your cancellation form, we do condition 30 days as our basic time frame as we need to notify the individual lenders we contacted on your behalf to ensure that you have not entered in to any financial agreements with them and to notify them of your request to cancel any financial assistance. Having hundreds of lenders means this process takes time, it is in your interest this happens as this will ensure lenders desist from contacting you with potential solutions and stop working on your behalf to find you a loan.

We have set your refund date as 06.06.2014, please be advised that once we have credited your account we do advise that it may take between 1-5 working days to clear dependent on your account.

Once your refund date has been set unfortunately we cannot change this, we do aim to provide a fair and coherent process for all our customers to ensure that the very best service is provided across the board."

This money should have been in my account latest today but nothing and have tried ringing them but all i get is we are busy. Had a look on websites and think they may have stopped trading. Does anyone know of anything about them please.

There's two websites - one that has 'gone' and one still up by requiring you to log in. Possibly a clone firm.

Seems a similar case here about a company called Loans Zoo - same wording of email ref refund.

I have seen many many complaints on here about Loan Zoo. After £54.99 was debited from my account without my permission and I found out who it was I googled it and my eye was drawn to this complaints website!! Thankfully, useful posts on here have enabled me to contact them by phone, completed a 'cancellation form' and I have been given a set date for refund (a month away!) However, I then realised I should cancel my card for security reasons so I have had to resend - them different details to refund to - I have told them on the same day and before the refund to enable them to make payment which is stipulated on their form - now wondering if they will attempt to send to the cancelled bank card??!! Anyway, this is clearly a SCAM and they are used to people ringing them and asking for refunds. "Jamie" was vague and my advice to anyone this affects would be to ask them direct questions, get specific answers, get them to confirm you will get a FULL REFUND, get their name, take details of the when you called, back everything up with emails. Does anyone know the name under which this trading name is authorised with the FCA? I will make a complaint and would encourage others to do so

i did this too it was supposed to be refunded 11/6/14 and ive had nothing, they have also continued to take another payment of 4.99 from my account so watch out! i am reporting them to trading standards i have tried calling too and all i get is an automated msg saying they are bus, i am also changing my account details!

They took 4.99 from me and when I complained on 3rd June I was told to write a letter which I did. I cant get hold of them either so have complained to FCA and financial ombudsman.

I have the exact same problem mine was supposed to be in on the 19th im now at the 5 day 'bank clearance period' and f*** all is in my bank the phone number is ringing through like theres noone even there the website has been blocked off with a login only and the email is now automated and sends you their usless number what can we do? Help would be very much appreciated as ive never come up against anything like this before

Just an update on this... after complaining to the financial ombudsman i have now received the money back into my account.

Good news zombiefan. What point in proceedings with the fos did you receive the refund and did the fos's complaint have anything to do with it or just coincidence do you think?

The FOS only sent the letter a couple of weeks ago so not sure if it was them or a concidence. Still couldnt get them on the phone though and did send them emails about how disappointed I was and how could they sleep at night taking money off people that dont realise or read the small print (me in particular lol)... :tinysmile_aha_t:

How are they taking the payments?

You need to tell the bank these are unauthorised payments and not to allow them to go out.

The bank have put a block on it and I've contacted FOS so hopefully I'll get it all back I'll update as soon as I hear anything thanks for all your help

Hi I-indirect/securemymoney took £54.99 from our account in April 2014 without getting a loan or any response from themselves. We managed to get hold of them through loanzoo (same company as above) for a refund which was set for 6th June 2014, this didn't happen so after a few weeks of trying to get hold of them we contacted the financial ombudsmen who chased it up for us. A few days later we received a cheque for the full amount, great we thought but no, they didn't sign the cheque. Contacted the FO and he said it was a tactic to hold out on payment but he couldn't do anything until the 8 weeks had passed. We had to send the cheque back for signature by recorded delivery but to date have had no response. Even Sending emails, phone calls and letters. Even sent one to David Mullins a director of secure my money at 8th floor 80 moseley street manchester which is their head office. No reply. Have 3 weeks to go before FO will look into it. These companies are sneaky they attach a CONFIRM box onto other loan companies so when on a mobile you don't see their t&vs and so they tell you you have been approved but never get any loans. A very hard lesson learnt we were £500 worst off after applying for a payday loan of £200. And am still paying for it by trying to catch up with bills we couldn't pay.
