Until very very recently i actually used to work for this company.
To clear up any false info for people this company is actually a part of 3 compani3s as a whole as the call centre that you would call for any of these 3 companies (loans direct uk, loan wizard uk and loan options) is actually a milti branded call centre! The staff work for a company called 'we are strawberry ltd' and they answer all the calls on behalf of each of the 3 companies so yes u may have called loan options and spoke to someone and then called loan wizard and spoke to the same person as the previous call to loan option etc
Before i worked for the company i used 2 believe the same as everyone else on here, that its a joke or a scam, however i can honestly say that that is not true. All 3 companies are legitamate companies. Callers call in demanding that they have not set up an account or that it does not say that they had to pay a fee! This is incorrect. Each of the 3 companies websites CLEARLY state that a fee is taken and CLEARLY states the amount the membership costs and what it is used for. So in that case it then falls on that customer not looking at the website 1st and just rushing through an application for a loan. All 3 companies do also offer a money back gaurantee regardless of a 14 day cooling period. However, the website also states that they are able to obtain a fee from this original one off payment for the cost of setting up an account for every individual customer and thier tailor made products on thier online account that THEY created. I say THEY as when a customer calls in and passes data protection the computer provides the agent with the ip address that was used to set up the account in the beginning so trust me there is no point in giving any stories down the phone. They dont need a made up excuse to be able to help with a canc3llation or refund. If u want that then that is what u will get. Now the reason then that customers were having to send in a letter is purely because any company like this would then need written and signed confirmation that they would like to close down thier account and recieve a refund into thier account.
Now...the good news is that as of last month the refund policy had changed to better the customer. As of last month, each of these 3 companies now only retain a £5 fee from the original payment taken to cover any admin costs. So that means all customers now get a FULL refund minus £5. Also what has changed is the way a custoner gets thier refund. As of last month all that needs to be done is to login to thier online account and cancel the account and then request thier refund. That is now all that needs to be done as the processing team would then process that refund for the customer ASAP. There is no longer the need for a customer to write a letter or print and send a form as this process has now been changed. We could only apologise before for the reasons of the process involved to get a refund however that was company policy and due to the fact that these companies are not brokers and are actually membership services meant that they do not fall under the consumer credit act but instead fall under the category of the distance marketing regulations act meaning that any fees previously obtained by these companies they were full within thier rights to do so. However thankfully this whole process has changed.
i advise every1 to read the websites 1st before proceeding to process a loan online. As most companies do charge a fee and believe it or not and despite adverts for loans on the tv, but most if not all loan companies do not deal with customers directly and instead go through brokers or membership services like these 3 companies.
i am not here defending these companies however having worked there and dealing with the customers i thought a better explanation and insight was needed. Its not a case of how we could sleep at night (which was shouted at us alot down the phones) it was our job! We hadnt done anything wrong! And in fact if someone is not going to read wat is clearly infront of them before rushing 2 sign up 2 something online then it is then thier own fault. I personally check everything before signing up for something or buying something online. Surely thats common sense?? So people next time hows about showing a little kindness over the phone when dealing with these companies. I can GUARANTEE u that the agent on the other end of the phone actually does want to help you! Its not a case of they have to help you but they actually do want to help you as they do understand every customers situation. Talking on the phone is alot better than screaming down the phone shouting "i hope u and your kids die of cancer" (and velieve me ive had this exact thing sed to me whilst working there at least 37 times - which i think is purely disgusting) yes ur frustrated and angry and pee'd off but like i said, especially with the new way they are dealing with things there, they can and they will help you and you will be getting a full refund (obviously minus the £5? Also just to clarify that it is also 'Visa Regulations' that state that a refund can take anywhere between 1-7 working days which means that this would be out of the hands of these companies. Once a refund had been issued that payment leaves the account immediately and it would all depend on who the customer banks with and how long they take to process that into the customers account. This is usually done very quickly but in some rare cases it can take a little longer than 7 working days. If that does happen then you would need to call an agent at the companie to make them aware that theyl refund has taken longer than 7 days as there are things that they can then try for the customer to locate thier refund and to help them get that payment back ASAP.
    :-)
(Please note i NO LONGER work for this company - i am not defending this company im merely stating an observation coming from both sides of the argum3nt as i hav3 been on both ends of this kind of situation and having worked here gained knowledge of my own stupidity in signing up for things without reading properly online?
    @ripcurlbabe:
Ive stupidly signed up to loans direct before, within a day I cancelled and requested a refund, then had to go through the letter sending and then had an offer given to me of -20 from the original amount debited and then -5. It took me 4 WEEKS! to get my money back, within 7 days I had the full amount offer -5, then being told on the phone: It will be in your account within 3-5 days.....5 days later, oh were having problems with our account system funnily enough, it'll be sorted tomorrow, oh the next day, the next day. Let me talk to the manager, ok im forcing it through to you it'll be there 3-5 days.......oh waiting again, get put to another manager because the first was conveniently out the 2 days I tried calling again. Half way through the 5th week of complaining, only after I had threatened with a chargeback with my account and getting the police involved taking them to court was there all a sudden a magical turn of events where I had the full amount the next day. Coincidence much?
Now brilliantly loans wizard has taken money from my account.......WITHOUT PUTTING ANY DETAILS INTO ANY LOAN COMPANYS WEBSITE WHAT SO EVER! I haven't searched or even looked at a loan company and they are charging me, the best part about it? if you want to talk to someone about it to get it sorted immediately, you cant, all they're call centre does is dead end you with go to our website or email us no longer letting you talk to anybody to get the process started quicker!
Do you know what happens to your email system, they don't respond! Ive been sent a link to the email system by loans direct before to track my complaint, you know what happens? Everytime you register a complaint it comes up on the system as complaint closed basically ignoring it!
I went straight to my bank this time to the fraud department and have basically said as soon as the pending transaction is put through my account they will refund it and investigate the company, best way to deal with it to be honest.
To be honest I know people here will be fooled by Ripcurlbabe's, im just trying to help but it just sounds like the standard fake propaganda you get on review websites where you have 2000, 1 star reviews then have 100, 5 star reviews from people without last names just saying yea great, would use again.

You cant, call your bank and either say this is a fraudulent transaction or call the disputes department and say you did not authorise the transaction and you cant contact the company so to raise a chargeback against them.

What a rip of is this company making money with fraud. no real person answers their phone, what a scum. i was looking for a loan and ended up at their website. they said needed my bank details to verify my account and they would take ten pence to do that. Then another page for a fee of £69.85 and which day I wanted them to do that. I decited no clicked on nothing and exited their website. after a few days they took that amount out of my bank. my bank is useless to do anything. dozen of emails to loan wizard with no reply plus messages. a contact number that when you call and choose the refund it tells you to go back to the website and log in. doing that your password is not recognised and requesting a new one it says is been send to your email but guess what? it never arrives. Loan wizard or whatever they called run by oxcgen or who knows is a fraud. I did not agree on anything and they took my money. No way to speak to a real person no reply on emails just a rip off and they continue doing it all the time. dozen of emails just stress. Former empoyer? Are you for real? their contact number is a machine.

Re: loans direct, loan options, loans wizard.

Ok so I felt a duty to post on here. I got in a bit of a mess with these loan companies and ended up on the loans direct website. I'm not going to go on about the fee as to be honest I was not paying total attention to what I was doing. I know not smart but I was concerned about having money. Anyways once I realised that the fee had been taken i called up and the woman I spoke to told me 7days and I'll get a refund. 10mins later no refund. Called back and was told about the cancellation process online. This was done and again told 30days this time. This was the start of October. Come the 6th November no refund. I tried to call again only to discover that the number on the website was of no use. I had also discovered that the of 10p had been taken from my account by loans direct uk. So I went back to the website and tried to fill in a complaint form. No use, the site rejected this each time I pressed submit. So I used the general enquiries form. In this incoming stated what I had done and that if I did not hear back from them in 24 hours id be forced to contact the ombudsman and start legal proceedings. Surprisingly this also fell on deaf ears as 3days later still no reply.
I'll be honest at this point I almost gave up. I figured that the company has "disappeared" and that I would put it down to a learning curve and poor life choice. Then I came across this site and many others with similar problems. This got me angry so I thought f**k them, why should they get away with it. I emailed support@loansdirectuk.net
I explained the situation and reiterated my point of legal action. I also said I had the registered address so serving court papers wouldn't be an issue.
Just over a day later I received an email to say my refund had been processed and it would be in between 1-7days. Later that day I had 3 refunds processed.one for the 10pence , one for the £64.99 fee less the £5 administration fee. And low and behold £5. So a total refund was had.
So please don't give up and you will get a refund. If anybody wants the email I sent I'll happily forward it on in the hope it will help.
Apologies for any mistakes I wrote this on my phone.

Re: loans direct, loan options, loans wizard.

This is the email I sent to them.
                          Best of luck

                          Hello,
My name is ********* I contacted your company via the phone number on your website regarding a refund on the 30th September 2014. I was told that I would receive this in 7 days less a £5 administration fee. Roughly a week later no refund so I contacted you again via phone to the be told I had to go online and complete the instructions there and that with in 30 days my refund would be in my account. Alas 30 days passed and no refund. So I tried to contact you again only this time the phone number is an automated service of no use to anyone. It just refers me back to the website. So I fill in a complaint form and surprisingly the site won't accept this. So I fill in a general querie form and low and behold no response. To make matters worse another sum of money has now been taking from my account. This is despite the threat of legal action for breach of contract. This will be the last message I will send via your site in an attempt to resolve the issue in hand. If I have no response by 5pm on the 11th November 2014 I will be forced to initiate court proceedings against your company. I have you registered address so papers being delivered will not be an issue.

My contact email is the one I have sent this from, my contact number is *******

                          Sincerely
