  • Clinton vs. Halifax

    Hey there

I've just spoken to the customer services department of Halifax and made a claim for my bank charges over the past five years. They said I should recieve a letter within five working days from their complaints department. Has anyone had any experience with these guys? What should I expect? Has anyone had any success?

I've just been laid off work (I'm a builder) and there is absolutely nothing in the pipeline. I have mounting debts and of course Christmas is around the corner, so it's really not a good time to be out of work - and definitely not a good time for threatening letters demanding ILLEGAL bank charges.

I'd appreciate all yourt help, thanks loads!

    Hey Clinton

Halifax are relative good guys when it comes to bank charge claims for those in hardship....the letter you receive will probably contain a income expenditure sheet for you to complete and return (assuming you have mentioned you are claiming under hardship exemption of the waiver)...if you havent then I would suggest writing to them with an IE sheet (theres one in the spreadsheet section of the library) and explaining your circumstances to the bank.

If the letter you receive is the Test case claim on hold etc one, then just write back stating hardship and enclosing an IE sheet.

Hope that helps a little bit
