I do have other debts that I am due to repay and without the fees it just wont happen. I know it'll be hard but can you list all your debts and CCJs. company, whats outstanding as far as you know, arrears, normal payments etc and what the latest letters say - so we can see whats priority and work through stuff.

Have you spoken to anyone like CCCS or citizens Advice ? You'll need to get an Income/Expenditure statement done too for repayment offers to creditors etc.

Well done for sharing your situation too - I know how addictive gambling can be and how it takes your life over so you are to be commended for doing so well coming through it.

you know you can't rely on the charges refund to pull you through...so work as if thats months off and if it comes earlier (and we'll bloody push for it) then its a bonus and sorts things out that bit quicker.

        Re: Am I hardship candidate?

        Good morning!

Thank you for the words of encouragment, its nice to know there are people out there who are willing to help.

I will try and answer as many questions as I can in this post.

The CCJ was taken out by default as I couldnt/didnt attend the hearing in Cardiff county court. I didnt even fill in the defence form. The whole head in the sand thing. It was for an unsecured loan with Northern Rock, the order was a unsecured loan to be secured against my home and a CCJ for my non payment. Now the loan is included into my mortgage. So currently im paying two parts of a mortgage, one for the house and the other for my loan. It was for £30K and I didnt have the money to settle the loan within 30days, the big pain part of this is that my wife now has a CCJ against her for doing nothing wrong.

I have spoken to the Citizens advice and the answer was to try and recover as many outstanding debts as possible to pay off the little ones. I am trying not to go down the IVA route because this would really damage anything thing for the future. Isnt that what CCCS do? Maybe someone can advise me on that? Since stopping gambling I have paid off two credit cards and brought the mortgage back up to date. With the help of the company I work for.
I have no access to my salary or any sort or monies as my wife now pays the bills with the help of the fianance chap I work with. They are just trying to pay off the highest interest loans. I can post my incoming and outgoings. where do I put this? Is it ok to put it into the public area like the thread (dont know if I want to do that in public, bit shy and well its not pretty reading)

I have requested charges for all the credit cards I hold/had (they have been cut into tiny pieces) and I was paying PPI on nearly everything without even looking at the documents when taking out the loans.

The Light at the end of the tunnel is that two of the loans and my car will be paid up in December and if I could settle those now it would bring me closer to the goal of getting back onto my feet. If it wasnt for the help I recieved from work and my wife it would be a different story, the debts far outweigh my incoming. So basically the fees of over £6000 now would make a hellova difference.

Thank you again for all the kind words, this has been a life changing experiance and I am trying to see the possitive side of everything and coming onto this site is definatly one of the possitive sides!

        Thank you all so much!

PS: Hi Enaid, I have contacted gamcare and they are great with moral support and advice. My wife goes to the Gamanon meetings for wives and friends affected by gambling partners/husbands. Gamcare suggested it. Thanks!

          Hi stewie082,

Welcome to beagles I know it can be hard to find the courage to make that first post on a forum so well done for making that first step. I am sure you will be able to get some great help on here with your situation and members (as I am sure you have noticed) will remain unjudgemental.

I will help out if I can also. Good to have you on board.

CCCS will help you with a budget and a logical order to clear the debts, they won't just recommend an IVA, and from the sounds of things, it wouldn't be right for you anyway, IVA's in reality are not suitable for many people, despite the advertising hype that surrounds them.

It sounds like you are getting tremondous support from your wife and work, and they have things in hand. Sometimes an outsider with experience can see things that those involved may have missed and can make further suggestions to help.

If you feel uncomfortable posting your I and E, can I suggest you send a private message to Ameythyst with it and she will look over it in private. It may look scary, but it's only numbers on a screen, and crunching them is what we're good at.

Regards the CCJ, what are the terms of repayment? If they are high then it may be worth you applying to have it redetermined to a more manageble and affordable level. (That's one of the reasons your I&E will be helpful)

                Re: Am I hardship candidate?

I will send my balance sheet through.

                Do you want everything

The people helping me are really great and are trying to help. But they cannot persue any of the charges or debts I have run up as they wont allow anyone but me to talk to them, as I am the account holder.

Besides from that my wife is already stressed to the hilt just dealing with what I have done in the past. This would just be a breath of fresh air if it came through.

I will send my statement through for you to have a look at. Will Ameythyst be able to display this to you and other members for review? If need be I can send through my statements to. I am not only claiming back my bank fees I am trying to do the same for all the credit cards I had plus some silly insurances I had on loans etc etc (sad state of affairs)

This has been a truly humbling experiance and the wounds are still very fresh.

All we want is your Income and Expenditure sheet, non personalised, with some detail of the debts and how much you are repaying, in particular the CCJ from Northern Rock. (Those together mortgages have a lot to answer for lately)

We wouldn't dream of contacting the banks etc on your behalf, we support you to do it.

                    Hi Emerald,

Do you need my wifes expenses and salary included? I am doing the expense sheet at the moment.

Alot of thing like holidays etc etc do I have to enter in how much we would have spent?? Those are a luxury item that I dont see happening in the near future.

Celestine has also made a great suggestion in a private message. Sounds like something I should do in addition to my expense sheet.

                              Hi Gobbyone!
Thanks for the reassurance. And I hope a breath of fresh air is a good thing
I am still waiting for someone to write into the thread and tell me its my own fault and I should feel the pain like everyone else. Its my own mess, deal with it!

I dont know if this is the right way of doing things, and I am certain there are many other people out there who deserve the help more than I do. But I can assure anyone who has read my posts, this is probably the worst time in a persons life, sure the money is a big part but the other issues that go with it are MASSIVE, I am in this for the long haul. What I have listed on the site is just the tip of the iceberg of what gambling can do to someone.

                              Thanks again
