Hi all, was just wondering if anyone thinks it would be worthwhile me pursuing compensation against United Utilities?
What happened was someone who was living in a previous address i had lived at put a water bill in my name resulting in it being unpaid and a CCJ against me. What i find annoying is their policy to sign people up on the doorstep with no id required at all. I can only presume whoever did it had got my details from a letter that had been delivered. The other thing was the person who put the account in my name had spelt my name wrong and got my date of birth wrong which surprised me they were able to get a Judgement against me.
I feel United Utilities should be held responsible as they are the ones signing people up on doorsteps and allowing people to put accounts in other peoples names. As a result of this CCJ i have been forced to accept very high interest loans and credit cards which i needed for my business.
After a few months of contact with them and me having to prove i didnt live at the address at the time, they have finally sent me a letter admitting fault and have applied to get the CCJ set aside.
Should i just be grateful the CCJ is to be removed or should i be looking at taking it further?
Thanks.
