CCJ Debt Settled But Still Showing As ACTIVE on Credit File

Hi All

Is it possible to have a CCJ removed from a credit file? I was issued one in 2011 and the debt was paid off by myself last year but a check on my credit file says still ACTIVE and 1 year 14 weeks until its removed.

As CCJ is damaging my credit score badly is there anything I can do to rectify the situation?

You should ask the claimant to have it marked as satisfied - See http://www.trustonline.org.uk/unders...removing-a-ccj It will show on your file still for the 1 year 14 weeks but will show as paid.

The Debt was paid off through a DCA not the original claimant, who do I need to ask?

Also I have no proof in writing that I have paid it off, would bank statements showing payments be adequate proof of settlement?

You'd need to ask the Claimant if the CCJ was never transferred to the DCA but worth speaking to the DCA first to sort it out.

If the settlement was in full then the evidence of payment would be okay, although it's going to have been to a different party to that named on the CCJ.

Did you not get anything at all in writing to confirm the debt had been settled ?

Unfortunately not :tinysmile_cry_t:. Silly mistake, my last payment was over the phone and I didnt even think about it tbh. In fact I wasnt even aware the debt was as a result of a CCJ.

Thats what Im concerned about.

The settlement was paid in full though.
