So money is a unit used for immediate exchange as opposed to deferred payments (although I think that distinction is now not often made ...... some years since I studied this sort of thing!).
I just don't see where this line of thought is going and I'm concerned your brother is being misdirected.
I'd love to be shown to be wrong, because I like to see the small guy win!

It might be a non-starter, but yes it is about immediacy, and rights thereto.

You can't spend it if you don't have it.
