Well that letter is over a week ago and still have not had a reply from Andy Clarke. This means a lot to me and probably means nothing to him. Thanks for posting

Got a reply from Asda which I have asked Kati to post for me as I don't know how to post it. Took them 2 weeks to reply and it was not what I wanted. Who said Andy Clarke was a fair man?

I think they would say the same thing. It is really the principle of the matter as I definately did not go out with the intention of stealing but I think other people are in the exact same position.

Just a thought ... ASDA themselves didn't contact the police at the time so (IMO) you are NOT guilty of theft - there are no charges!!

I think you should go to your MP and even give them a link to this thread

Asda did ring the police and CCTV shows me scanning my goods and putting £3.05 onto the self service till. I should have put £3.34 in so I owed 29 pence the difference of what I should have paid and what I did pay. The next night I went over the security man told me I was barred from all Asda stores and they would not talk to me as it was a police matter by then. The Constable in charge of the case said 29p £290 or £29.00 IT is all classed as theft.

Whole heartedly agree with Kati on this, Clarke needs to take a careful look at the " quality" of the staff his minions are employing, this
I think is something for the national press ( especially the red tops) who love these victimisation of customers my multinational companies.
You can e-mail " Stories" to the Sun and others.
CAB is hopeless on such things imo.

I believe that this is called a mistake . As you the store have to prove intent to steal as well as the act of taking without paying . It is time to go the red tops or if you prefer "You and yours?" on Radio4 They have a good reputation and can often get senior people in the store to react sensibly when the minions cant of wont . Remember that the average security guards needs both hand to wipe his bum.

Plod needs looking at here, anyone with tiniest amount of common sense would have suggested to Asda's jobsworth that he/she/it took the 29p and forgot about the whole thing!!

And IMO the constable also needs complaining about if he implied Jacqui was guilty of theft.
There were no charges, no trial, no guilty verdict and not even a FPN.
It is not theft until proven

And as for the implications in that exclusion letter (post 26) ,,,,,,,,,,
