Lowell and DWP

Can Lowell's find out my income from the DWP?
Dwp say they can't but Lowell's skirting round this by neither admitting or denying that they can....

What's the situation ? Lowell will know the general benefits rates and if you tell them, via an IE sheet etc, what benefits you receive I expect they'd have a fair idea if the amounts are approximately right ? They wouldn't have any right to go and ask the DWP no... but they could ask you to attend court for questioning on your finances and you'd have to evidence income and expenditure ( if they have a judgment against you which they are trying to enforce ) so it'd help to know what your situation is with Lowell.
