I have a different post on this site seeking help with my debts when I found a link explaining you can claim a refund on interest and charges for loans which were unaffordable. Way back in 2012 My debt issues actually started with Wonga. I just went through my email history and sure enough, you can see new loans being taken out on the same day I paid the previous. Or multiple extensions to roll the debt. I actually repaid many of my wonga loans back then until it just became impossible and it went to a DCA. A few years back I got a letter telling me that I would not have qualified for a loan under new rules, and so they were writing off the debt! Do I have a claim to try reclaim some of these charges? It was a long time ago and one debt did end up written off, but what about the previous ones that were paid? If I were entitled to something back, that could go a way in offering creditors some sort of payment.

Hi Browneyes, Apologies for missing your post previously. Have you sent a SAR to Wonga - that would be your first step to see what charges etc you did pay, it sounds like you were rolling loans over until you finally couldn't do it any more. The remaining debt was written off but you should check what you overpaid on the previous loans - see here https://www.wonga.com/privacy-policy
