  • Lowell's and Orange

First of all I'd like to say hi.

im currently a serving soldier away on your, my wife tonight rang me extremely upset as a company called Lowell's had written a letter saying I owed £138.79 for a debt they brought from orange.

A few months back I had a letter from a company called Red something or another stating I owed the same amount for the same debt. I rang Orange and they confirmed I owed nothing and it must have been a mis sold debt. The spoke to Red and it was all agreed and any debts cancelled.

Now I have received a letter in the post from another firm Lowell's demanding payment in seven days. I told my wife to call them on my behalf as I'm not using a satellite phone to call them. She asked they put on hold and proceedings until I was back in 3-4 weeks. The little scrotum on the phone told her it's not their problem. Etc etc.

Iv sent a mature structured email to them stating the facts and requesting any further information they have.

But im worried this is going to be a thorn in my side for a bit .

What on earth can I do? I'm at my wits end now, and finding it hard to remain rational.

Just a few points, I'm still a Orange EE customer, so there is no way of me not knowing about a debt.

Iv never had any letters from Orange previously both times of agencies writing to me

is there anything I can do to stop these guys blackening my credit score?

    Cheers,
    Craig

    Hi Craig,
It does sound as though you have done the right thing so far in writing them and asking them for evidence of the debt. Possibly speak to/write to Orange again as it is there responsibility in the end and this could cause them to lose a customer. For your information, ''Red Debt Collection Services is a specialist debt recovery department within Lowell Financial Ltd.''.
    Kind regards

      Hi Sharon,

Thank you for your reply. Is there any legal strength I can use to get Lowell to go away as to be frank I'm getting rather annoyed now.

I'm not the smartest guy on earth, but I'm certainly not being bullied into paying money I don't owe.

      Regards,
      Craig

Lowell don't go AWAY they pester using one of their companies then then another after a while 4 years for 1 of our debts then come back again as if they never started, if there is no debt as Orange have informed you don't worry.

Hi craig , Ask Oange to confirn in writing that there is no debt outstanding . Copy this letter and send it signed for to Lowell. If at this point they keep hassling you then there is the protection from harassment act . Other beagles will be along to advisee about this . Do not send lowell the original letter from orange as they will "lose" it and send everything signed for.

Completely agree with seduraed, if you can get Orange to confirm in writing that there is no outstanding debt owed, nor ever been owed, by you, to you, then send a COPY to Lowells by recorded delivery with a covering letter, they should back off, and if they don't, you have the evidence they are aware the debt is false for either action for harassment or defending any proceedings they might take.

Do I have a case legally for Lowell's to wait until I return home before this mess gets sorted out again.
