Yes there are. In your case, reporting Lowells to the OFT's Credit Fitness Team and Trading Standards is a must. What they have done is a breach of OFT Debt Collection Guidelines and, consequently, their OFT Category F Debt Collection Licence.

Hi guys i have an update from lowells please find attached the letter i sent them and there reply and there complaints procedure, i look forward to your thoughts and advice.

Wait for a final response to see how they explain their idiocy and lies.

In the meantime, report to OFT, trading standards etc if you haven't done so already.

Then, depending on the content of any final response, you can follow up the complaints and/or take to the FOS and seek redress if they haven't backed down on their daft claims.

You also have anti-harassment laws you can use to legally-restrain them if necessary. From what I know, Lowells back away when anti-harassment laws are used against them and cannot settle fast enough, particularly in cases where they have no right in law to pursue an alleged debt.

It's a result, but not the result one might wish - if an alleged debt really was the subject of "an ongoing dispute", that might cast doubt on it being SB.

If it had been SB in 2004, however, then nothing could revive it.

There was no ongoing dispute, Lowell bought the debt then started to harass me in December 2012
