  • Equidebt/ Credit Resolutions Services - unknown debt

Hello all, I do hope someone can offer advice.
I have been receiving frequent answerphone messages from Equidebt for the last couple of months asking to speak to my adult son, who has just finished University but not living here at present. When I finally picked up one of these calls, they were unable to tell me why they wanted to speak to him, but that it was about a debt.
I asked them to write as no-one in my household owes money to anyone.
He has now received a letter - attached, which makes no sense at all. My son does not owe money to anyone, there is no clue what this so-called debt is for, we have never heard of Credit Resolutions Services and don't know what to do next.
It cannot be right that such a thing can come out of the blue with no explanation as to what it is about? We don't want to react in the wrong way , and wondered if there is a standard letter for this sort of situation? Or is it best to ignore and see what happens next (unnerving) ?
    Many thanks for any help

Re: Equidebt/ Credit Resolutions Services - unknown debt

Credit Resolution Services are a debt collection agency? So why is Equidebt chasing another DCA's debt!??

Who on earth do they claim the Original Creditor to be?
"Although scalar fields are Lorentz scalars, they may transform nontrivially under other symmetries, such as flavour or isospin. For example, the pion is invariant under the restricted Lorentz group, but is an isospin triplet (meaning it transforms like a three component vector under the SU(2) isospin symmetry). Furthermore, it picks up a negative phase under parity inversion, so it transforms nontrivially under the full Lorentz group; such particles are called pseudoscalar rather than scalar. Most mesons are pseudoscalar particles." (finally explained to a captivated Celestine by Professor Brian Cox on Wednesday 27th June 2012 )

Hi Celestine, We have no idea who the original creditor is supposed to be! All we have had is the letter I attached to my previous post.

Re: Equidebt/ Credit Resolutions Services - unknown debt

I will call Equidebt on Monday and ask them to comment on why they are collecting debts to other DCA's without even bothering to disclose the identity of the alleged original creditor.
        Another new low......

For your family, how do they have your phone number even? I'd be inclined to ignore but I suspect they will be back so a CurlyBen 'prove it' letter will be necessary.

Thank you, I will wait to hear from you before seeking out CurlyBen's 'prove it' letter.
(Our telephone number is in the phone book, thus easily contactable.)

            Hello Celestine
Did you contact Equidebt? Any advice on what I should do next?
            Many thanks.

                Celestine
We have received another letter today from Equidebt (quick succession!) , but this sheds no further light. Copy attached.
Any guidance would be gratefully received.

Re: Equidebt/ Credit Resolutions Services - unknown debt

I've tried them today and the person I need to speak to isn't there today. I have her email though and am chasing.

Ignore until we find out what they are doing.

Re: Equidebt/ Credit Resolutions Services - unknown debt

Forgive me asking, but have you actually asked your son if he remembers owing an amount around this sum to anyone?

The DCA can ask anyone to collect a debt, they could in theory have 20 companies chasing you, so I'm with Celestine. Check with your son, and then I would ignore them totally. You other alternative is to send the Prove It letter:

                    http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...ing-with-DCA-s

                    First letter in Post #4.

Re: Equidebt/ Credit Resolutions Services - unknown debt

The thing that's really odd here, is that its one DCA collecting another DCA's debt, with the first DCA named as creditor!??

It's not odd if an Absolute Assignment has taken place, and so the named DCA is acting effectively as the OC. It happens a lot with these two specific companies over gym memberships. :beagle:

                          Ahhh Thank you Labman.

So MVM, please ask your son if he has ever taken out a gym membership?

My wife has received exactly the same letters, in December, with Credit Resolution Services as the creditor; and the same follow up letter. We have also had about 5 phone calls and she has received 2 emails. She has categorically not joined a gym. I have senthe prove it letter (February) and I am waiting for a reply.

I had a demand letter recently from this lot sent to my old address which I only got a hold of by chance meeting with the new residents. No idea of who or what I owe. So until they write to me at my current address it's filed under recycling
