  • MRS G Need's Help With HFO Services

    HI All

I briefly explained in my MMF thread that my Husband had used my Barclaycard , without my permission while i was sleeping to gamble on William Hill Poker.

I ended up with a debt of about £5,000 , this was i think in 2005. Eventually BC passed the debt sold the debt to Hfo services . And an Astian sounding man kept calling the house while i was out , when i did answer the phone he told me if i made an arrangement to pay . It wouldn't have to be the full amount , if i paid them so much they would wipe out the rest of the debt.

I set up a standing order in 2010 to pay £32 per month , but when i separated from my Husband asked them to reduce the payments slightly .

Apart from this one letter dated May 2011 i have heard nothing from them , no statements to give me an idea of what i owe . When i try to ring the number on the letter it doesn't work.I have been reading a thread on another forum about HFo from 2008 , saying that they are based in the Caymen Islands . And that they were trying to get their call call centres moved to India ,because they couldn't take anybody to court in this Country they had to do this in America.

What do i do now ? ,i feel like cancelling the standing order . And then wait for them to ring me ,but they have a list of charges for cancelled DD and SO ranging from £12 to £100 for a personal visit.

    Many thanks Mrs G

Tbh Mrs Grumpy, reading what you've written, my action would be to stop paying them, wait for them to write (NO PHONECALLS) and then invite them to take you to court. At least in a court you have the opportunity to tell what these idiots have been upto. I stress this is not any sort of legal advice and isn't offered as such. Others may have better advice for you based on previous experience or sound legal knowledge but it does appear these people are giving you the run around.

I would also say, cancel the standing order, and if anything comes back, remember the letter you sent MM saying you revoked their right of way? send that and the prove it letter I typed up for you.

do you have details on the assignment

hfo have debts assigned to the cayman island companies i believe and have no duristiction in the uk courts

it has tripped them up big time

i will have to do some research though to get confirmation

i must read your first post, i seem to have repeated what you have said

I can only find the one letter they sent dated 21 April 2011 , it says that the arrangement is subject to review every three months .

Have been paying it for about two and a half years now , have had no review and no idea how much i still owe them.

The promise to wipe out some of the debt , was no doubt a trick to get me to pay them at the start.

If you have an arrangment with any company in regard to a debt thay have a requirment to forward a statment of account at least once a year. This should clearly show the original balance, the payments received and the balance owing.

i would think an sar is in order on this one to HFO

we realy do need to find out if this was sold (assigned) to hfo capital cayman islands or hfo capital dublin

i am not happy with not statement of account as to 86a of the cca 1974

hfo are a tangled web of companies within companies

send a subject access request to HFO with a £10 fee to begin with

lets find out what is going on

to be hones, your payments are going into a company account that no longer exists

Re: Changes at HFO / Turnbull Rutherford – Quarterdeck Law Ltd

HFO (UK) Holdings Ltd remains in voluntary liquidation (ie. the company appointed its own liquidator).

The assets of HFO (UK) Holdings Ltd includes the assets of HFO Services Ltd (which is NOT in liquidation but trading).

In the meantime, Mr Alasdair Turnbull, one time director of nearly all of the HFO companies, and director of Turnbull Rutherford solicitors which actually runs HFO Services, has recently changed the name of a company of which he is at present the sole director and shareholder.

The dormant company was called Cambridge Credit Ltd, but was renamed in June 2012 as Prime Arbor Capital Ltd.

A domain name, primearborcapital.com, was registered in February, not long after the Quarterdeck name change cock-up. Astonishingly, this domain name – primearborcapital.com – is registered to Badri Nathan, a director of HFO (UK) Holdings and business partner of Alasdair Turnbull.

Prime Arbor Capital amazingly efficiently filed its accounts for the year to 31 July 2012 on 6 August – just one week later.

Far be it from me to suggest that anything amiss is afoot, but Mr Turnbull appears to be setting his business in motion. With some assistance from Mr Nathan. As far as I know, their debt collection activities still under investigation by the OFT (which has made no announcement to the contrary).

And of course, I’m not suggesting that there is any possibility of undervalued HFO Services assets being sold to Prime Arbor Capital Ltd, not at all. But, just imagining it did happen, I do hope the valuation of HFO Services Ltd’s assets is an accurate one which takes into account all the court judgments it has in its possession, probably lodged at the premises of Turnbull Rutherford (which actually runs the company). Because according to the records filed at Companies House, there’s a lot of redundant former HFO employees who will be waiting for a payout.
