    Re: Threatened with Mackenzie Hall

Hi, i CCA'd Mack Hall for an alleged debt in Sept last year, i had been paying them each month. They didnt reply to my CCA request and bombarded me with phone calls and txt messages. I eventually got fed up and answered and they said calls are recorded for training purposes bla bla and i said im recording this one too for OFT purposes and what a great track record your company has with them and whoever else i might want to complain about you to. I then told them that i wouldnt give out my details over the phone until they had complied with my request. I got a letter a week later stating that they had returned the debt to the original creditor. Not heard another thing since and the debt has been removed from my credit file. Hope that helps you

I believe that Mucky Hall have been known to take on one or two debts that were neither unenforceable or simply statute barred - but then, accidents can happen to the best of us.

I decided to change my landline number, now MH have only got my works number, I can't tell you what a relief it is to be at home when the phone rings and you know it can only be either family or friends. Cannot recommend this highly enough, from now on, no-one gets my home landline number. BT were really good about - just ring their nuisance calls line on 0800 661441. There was no charge.

I have received my letter this weekend telling me of the total amount I owe to Quick Quid, and therefore payable to Mackenzie Hall. I have until so and so to pay up or it may got to court. Now, do I still file under I?? Or, should I send a letter?

A threat from Muck Hall is not worth the paper its printed on so just ignore and report them to the OFT/trading standards if they keep harassing you.

Even for them to buy potentially enforceable debts by accident?

That seems as likely as a troop of bonobos reproducing a "true copy" of Shakespeare's first draft of Vortigern and Rowena.

A couple of years ago now i think it was - they mistook a doughnut that was sent to them for a potential anthrax attack by a disgruntled debtor - it was all over "the other forum" at the time - a few of them in their office started to cough/feel unwell etc.. (suspicious of what was in the package before they opened it) and instantly panicked thinking it was such an attack when in fact it turned out to be a doughnut all along.

I sincerely hope that nobody would be inspired by that incident to send MH a letter containing caster sugar or unscented talcum powder - or my name isn't Hiram T. Whippelproofer.
