Oh the wonders of Truecall. Did a weblink today for first time in ages and noticed an 0800 number been trying to phone seven or eight times a day for the past week.

Looked it up on Who's phoning me? and it's our dear friends Cabot. Shame they can't manage to guess the breakthrough number - surely someone there must have the intelligence to keep phoning back and try 1 then 2 then 3 etc.... till they find it, but obviously not!

So, looking forward to a letter.

Relieved of £100 is what I'd call that.

There speaks a cynic! Honestly if you had any idea what a difference it has made to our lives it was one of the best £100 we have ever spent, not only for the calls that have been stopped of which there are hundreds, but also for the many, many calls I've been able to record and throw back at them when they deny saying things.

For us it works, it does its job brilliantly and was well worth it. As always, for others it may be a total waste of money.

          Actually, a £100 well spent!

There is also a slightly cheaper generic version.

Didn't someone post up an 0845 number you could use and perhaps a voicemail to make YOU some money.

Changing your number and not giving it out to these people is a whole lot cheaper than £100. As is changing the details they hold for you and substituting the telephone number they hold for you with any old telephone number.

Ye s, DebtStar gave out an 0845 number, but it turned out to be not as simple as it seemed at the time.

Amy - we changed our number twice, ex directory, registered with TPS and the one for silent calls, only gave it to friends and family, but still they got the number and we were literally bombarded with phone calls (40 odd a day sometimes). As I said it's brilliant for some (like us) but not others (like you!)

Also useful to know who is trying to phone you and can't get through - forewarned can be forearmed. I would happily spend the £100 again on it and recommend it highly to anyone receiving a lot of nuisance calls and wanting the ability to record calls.

Can't you get caller ID phones in the UK? Or just give out a pay and go phone and simply keep it on silent/vibrate so if you don't want to talk to them then you don't have to......works a treat with my mother

What? Are you seriously accusing me of being a spammer? If that's what you feel, go ahead and report me, that's fine. Personally I thought it was an innocent post but there we go. I also thought you're idea of a PAYG on silent for your mother was good as I said.

Can I ask one thing please. If you report me, please do the decent thing and let me know, perhaps with a reasonable explanation why. Perhaps I could point you at a few other threads that specifically mention particular products with a direct view to encouraging others to buy them, some by VERY senior members of this site. Maybe you'll report them too.

This site is becoming very strange at times.

You can record calls on Skype for free just out of interest, if that's what you want to do. Also you can get Caller Display. Personally I just don't answer calls from numbers I dont recognise.

(oh and have just come on so havent seen any reported post but can't see anything warrants reporting, though if you are in poop financially buying a truecall device for £100 odd would be the last thing I'd recommend to anyone)

                        I recommend FlexTel.

here's a link to my thread, heavily endorsing it. http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...hlight=FlexTel

its free and has the ADDED advantage of earning you money from all those pesky DCA calls.

Where's the rest of the thread gone? Leclerc posted up about 5 or 6 posts in a row late last night ending about 1.00am - they've all disappeared.
