  • Telogram on behalf of CapQuest ?

    Hi

I'm new here so bare with me !

Received a letter today from Telogram on behalf of CapQuest asking me to confirm my current details by calling them. They obviously had my correct address but they had my last address as somewhere I lived around 12 years ago....only lived (rented) there a few months with an ex-boyfriend. I have no idea why they're contacting me but I googled both company names and appears to be a debt collection agency and a dodgy one at that ! They said if I don't respond by a certain date they will make further investigations on me.

I'm obviously concerned and worried as I don't know why they're contacting me. I mean, I moved out of the address they had years ago. My credit file is fine and other than my current credit cards/bank details on there, I don't have any outstanding debts...I've not checked today but I will try and do it again next week. I honestly dont believe I have any debt from that address...if I did how come I have such a good credit file now, allowed loans/cards and nothing outstanding showing ? ...and surely if there was anything (can't think what) since it's 12 years ago, how come they're only contacting me now ??

Having tralled the internet it appears others have had the same problem with this company (as they're one and the same) but I don't want to start being hassled with bailiffs turning up on my doorstep.....can they do that considering I have no debt & have no idea what it's about ?

I've not phoned them and have no intention in doing so but I don't know what to do.......they come across from reading other messages as really aggressive.

    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Welcome to Beagles

Keep the threatogram, but do not respond to it in any way. By the sounds of things if you did have any debt with them it would now be statute barred (over 6 years).

If we can help with anything then feel free to post, otherwise keep popping in for a read, or even just to natter.

Sounds like they are short on monies hoping to pick up monies from Statute Barred Accounts, they are more likely fishing on old out of date accounts, hoping some mug pays up, do not do anything , await any further letters etc, then let us know the contents .By the way they are referred to as Crapquest on here, all mouth no pants.

Thanks for your replies. Just had me in a real panic as my ex was a bit of a **** and he did run up a debt (joint mobile phone bill!) in my name at our next address...which I paid off before kicking him out....so I'm just worried that there is something in my name but that isn't mine....after 12 years ??? Looking at my credit files I've got nothing outstanding, no CCJs, no bad debt...nothing showing at all....so I'm just completely confused.

I'll let you know if I hear from crapquest again !

          Thanks again

Re: Telogram on behalf of CapQuest ?

Received a letter from HL Legal yesterday (Sat 28 Nov) dated 17 Nov and requesting contact by Mon 30 Nov. Amazing really considering the Telogram letter purported to give me until 23 Nov to make contact but apparently HL Legal had already sent out their letter a week prior saying no contact made ! They are still not stating what it is about but as they are a debt collection agency I can only assume it is in regard to an unknown/unacknowledged debt but since the previous address they had for me is 10/12 years out of date then any debt (if there is one ?!!) would be statued barred.

I've done copious amounts of searching the internet and have put together a letter that I will be posting to them recorded delivery and I will not be including my current address and the signature will be written over a series of XOXO so that they will be unable to copy. I make no acknowledgement of anything, since I have no idea exactly why they are contacting me.

Will let you know the outcome ! From all I've found on these companies, they seem to be pretty busy at the moment harassing an awful lot of people so at least I know I'm not alone !

                *Yawn*

Don't bother responding to HL's Threat-O-Matic as it will of been sent by CQ.
Wait until they actually have something worth while to say to you..

Seruosly CQ have recently purchased a whole bunch of statute barred debts and it's best to wait for them to make any moves.

If you really feel you must send them a letter, then a simple Prove It does wonders.

there's a good one here: ~~~ Consumer Credit Agreements - A Guide ~~~~ inc. Letters - Legal Beagles
Also, as regards signatures, DON'T EVER SIGN a DCA letter.
                Use a handwriting font instead.

There is NO legal requirement for you to actually sign any letters you send to these "people".

Re: Telogram on behalf of CapQuest ?

Thanks again. The letter I've put together is based on the templates I've found online (including on here). I do want to write to them as they are "threatening" to make a visit to my home so I want to make them fully aware that I know my rights and that they are not allowed to harrass me at home or visit without my permission !

I'd read about the signature over XOXO but your suggestion is a good one. In the letter I state that I'm well aware they are all one and the same company.

I'll update when I eventually hear back from them.

Did you have any old debts with Abbey ? (or have we already sussed that one)

they seem to be after a lot of old stat barred stuff at the moment through capquest and HL legal.

Re: Telogram on behalf of CapQuest ?

To be honest, I can't see that they will ever visit your home. No-one yet who's ever had one of those letters has ever had a home visit. And anyway, if they don't know where you live now there's not much chance of them visiting your home is there?? Unless of course you confirm your details to them, which obviously you won't do. I would do as suggested by CB and Ame, ignore them completely. They are using scare tactics in the hope that you will pay up. If you definitely have no debt with them, apart from anything that is statute barred anyway, just ignore it. You have got more chance of the pizza delivery bloke turning up on your doorstep than Crapquest turning up.

Hi. I received a similar letter from Telogram on behalf of CapQuest asking me to contact them to confirm if I was Mr XXXX, who previously lived at XXXX. I think it relates to a small overdraft I simply forgot to settle. Haven't made or received contact with bank in question for 10+ years, so likely to be statute barred. Can CapQuest put a 'GAIN' notice on my credit reference files for statute barred debt - assuming they can confirm it's mine - and would this type of notice impair credit score despite otherwise flawless record? I would rather pay than impair credit record! Thanks

Do as we do ignore it, it is a fishing exercise in statute barred account they bought up, if necessary use it to as Curly would suggest, do not contact them as probably other with initials as yours will heve been contacted
