  • IQOR

    hello,
i have a problem with iqor. about 6 years ago i took out a an emergancy loan with the jobcentre as they had failed to pay me my income support and wouldnt give me a grant! i was paying about £12 a week back to them. The loan was only 350.
I then came off income support and started uni. In the summer i went back on income support and they starting taking payments again. After university i started working i was sure i had payed of the loan! then last year i recieved a letter from the dwp saying that i owed them 350 from the loan. i tried to tell them that i couldnt have owed that much because i had been paying it off and thought i had payed it off. i didnt hear anything back from them so i assumed it was all sorted and that they must have relised there mistake!. Then 2 weeks ago i recieved a phone call asking me to comfirm my name address and telephone number. i asked who they were and they said the couldnt tell me. so i said i wasnt giving my information to someone who wouldnt tell me who they are and she shouted down the phone we'll put it in writing and put the phone down. i rang back and managed to get the name of the company (iqor) and what the issue was. They said i still owe 350 i told them there must be a mistake and that i had been paying dwp and that dwp know this!!.

I haven't recieved a letter or another phone call but i am worried that they are gonna send bailiff round to collect the money! I have no proof that i have paid the dwp because i got rid of all the letters years ago and have changed banks since this all started! i have heard tho that if a debt is more than 6 years old then it gets wiped and you dont have to pay is this true? and is there anything else i can do to sort this out??

    Re: IQOR

When you were paying the DWP was it being paid by a deduction from your income support ? (was it a crisis or budgeting loan from the social fund?)

In betweeen coming off the first time and going back on to income support, did you make payments in any other way, or did it just pick back up on deductions when you went back on IS ?

Should have been repaid over approx 30 weeks

okay The benefits office should have details of this - they have a record of all IS payments made to you and all deductions - if they can't tell you on the phone (call the jobcentre you applied for the loan through and who issued the IS and ask them) see if they can send it in writing, otherwise you can send a subject access request to the DWP to get all the information.

I'd also mention to the DWP/jobcentre you are being chased by Iqor and see what they say.
