  • Cabot Account

    Hi.

I've got a lot of debt that is or is about to become statute barred. I currently pay off a Ccj to Restons solicitors at £10 per month, but that's the only debt I've acknowledged.

I signed up to view my report with the 4 agencies and sure enough, the majority are already statute barred, but I've discovered I received another Ccj from Cabot at the same time as the one I'm paying - I've only just found out about it 5 years after it was issued.

The question I have isn't about that though - I defaulted on all my accounts in 2018, but there is an open account in the 'other' section for just over £300 which looks like it started in April 2019. As all my payments to all credit accounts stopped in April 2018, isn't this a bit late to register a default? I can't tell what it was for originally and I'm loathe to contact them as they may start chasing for the CCJ I just found out about. I've attached a screenshot of the account as it shows with equifax, experian and. TU.

The last pic is when they say it will fall off my CR. Can they create a new default date for what must already be an account I defaulted on in 2018?

    Any advice appreciated.

I recognize that you're worried about a possible new default date and an account that has defaulted appearing on your credit report. Due to privacy limitations, I am unable to view the screenshot, but I can answer your queries and provide guidance:

The Statute Barred Debt and Default Dates:

Creditors are generally limited to adding a default notice to your credit record after a certain period of time (usually six months) following the previous payment or missed payment.
A new default for 2019 seems strange if all of your previous defaults were from 2018. This account might not have been included in the original report, or there might have been a mistake.
