If you have been paying the debt, you are effectively admitting the debt is lawful even if the agreement isn't.

Sounds like you are referring to the CCA adjustments enacted in April 2007.
These are NOT retrospective at all, so any agreements signed beofre this date are still governed by CCA 74.

I would think so too as I have spent alot of time and effort learning the ins and outs of CCA and subsequent SI's and related information
