National Hunter: The credit agency no-one has heard of | Money | The Guardian

Courtesy of Scarl*t Pimpernel CAG (How come the name *******t isn't allowed??)

    This is them:

    Companies House info:

    N HUNTER LIMITED
    100 BARBIROLLI SQUARE
    MANCHESTER
    M2 3AB
    Company No. 04546325

Same address on their Information Commissioners Office registration, from which I note that N Hunter processes CCTV surveillance footage.

Curiously, a search on the OFT Consumer Credit Licence database returns 'no result found' under N Hunter Ltd, National Hunter or their company registration number. A search of their registered office postcode brings up some DCAs I've never heard of (and oneI have - Telogram) - but no N Hunter Ltd.

An image of 100 Barbirolli Square can be seen here. Note the caption.

Some of the other firms using the address:

    EUROTRUST SERVICES LIMITED - DCA
GE KEYNES HOLDINGS LIMITED - DCA
    PHONES ON FINANCE LTD
QUICKCLICK LOANS LIMITED - includes 'debt collection' in its Information Commissioners Office listing, but not 'provision of financial services', oddly. According to its Companies House listing, the nature if its business is 'medical practice activities'.
TELOGRAM LIMITED - listed as dormant by Companies House
THE DEBT PEOPLE LTD - 'IVA specialists' - and consolidation loans.

I have already complained to the Information Commissioners Office that these so called lenders are nothing of the sort as they don't have a CCL issued by the OFT.

Therefore in my view they are simply deceiving loan applicants into giving personal information for the purpose of debt collection when there is no prospect of the applicant ever been given a loan

Needless to say I'm getting the runaround The Information Commissioners Office say "we don't issue CCL's" & the OFT say "we don't register data controllers" This is despite me repeatedly pointing out they don't have a CCL to offer loans & to the Information Commissioners Office that the registration is based on false information. I can only assume they are being deliberately obtuse in an effort to avoid answering the question truthfully

        Re: Hunter The Secret Agency

I did have & despite being computer illiterate I will try to find them again Failing which I shall repeat my queries to both bodies.

My original question involved what I believe to be a fictitious finance broker based in Redhill, Surrey who's real purpose is to collect data to identify debtors who had 'gone away' rather than those wanting loans. Although only anecdotal I know of no one who has been successful in obtaining a loan through this company

Like some genuine brokers they seem to be targeting those with extremely poor ratings yet they have or had at the time no CCL only a ICO registration which sort of begs the question why

My compliant to the ICO was that if I was correct the ICO have been conned into granting registration in that the data collection was/is not for the purpoase claimed & my compliant to the OFT was if this company is advertising itself as a finance broker WITHOUT benefit of a licence OR without any intention of obtaining a loan for consumers wasn't it commiting fraud

Anyway the OFT replied that they DID not have any involvement in the DPA & the ICO replied they did not have any involvement in issuing CCL's (Consumer Credit Licences)

Obtuse or what either that or they employ eejits at both organisations who lack the ability to read & understand our Shakespearean Language

I would hope you would get a better response if you do a joint letter and I would cc it to the FSA as well. But yes hope you find the letters be interested to read them. Maybe we can have a think about a further letter / press and a wee investigatey into things.

            Re: Hunter The Secret Agency

So has anyone here actually contacted them to see what information they have?

shall I be the first? according to the last credit checks I did I had a good credit rating but have been refused 2 credit card s( long term low rate ) and a loan.

Also I was subject to a identity fraud - So I guess I send them a letter and see what comes up?

really? Not just the standard letter?

And if I did this would it show up if any problems on the property rather than us?

I am just a bit suspect about letters we have been getting about the previous occupants.
