Won't it be shopping vouchers etc to be divided by the staff, they do that with us at work if we win, during promotions. Probably a tax fiddle or something in that, as it's not actually cash! IMHO

I am picking up on a few points, effectively if the branch stays within budgetary targets and income is increased then they could get up to £600. there is 100 for the 3 key elements which if it is hit on all sectors is doubled. Income and expenditure are with regards to fees refunds not necessarily unlwaful charges related, stationery budgets, and till differences.

veilside, i have never asked anyone how their claim against natwest has gone, as far as work is concerned it is merely media coverage hype.
enaid- 99.9% of the time the vouchers would be used for staff alcohol related outing

it is not profiteering per se, merely making sure that bank employees follow processes in place, not being over the top with ordering stationery, and making sure they do their job correctly, ie no till difference mean that no errors are being made.

It is not profiteering it is to stop the abuse of processes that were happening. People ordering huge amounts of stationery that was not necessary. It is to stop wasting. Ok, it does put your arm behind your back when you are ordering stationery and the charges thing comes from. It is also about charges not being taken for legitimate services like for example safe custody. It is also about increasing income for the babk, ie packaged account and PLP(yes i know loan protection is cheaper elsewhere). The bank cannot simply say to staff do what you want because they are a business. Business is about making profit by cutting costs and keeping clear tabs on that. The charges bit I can explain more on the other thread but people were refunding where no refund case was there under the banks guidelines.

But Nattie, surely it still boils down to the fact that, if we have abused the account then fair enough, a charge may be acceptable, but why why why do they have to profit from it. Why not just charge us what it genuinely costs them to genuinely enforce a penalty or whatever, with maybe 50p profit on top, thats reasonable, but not £35 squid. It still boils down to the unfairness in the charging regime, not whether or not we are due a refund, but the actual fairness of actual cost applied as a penalty.

the franchise profit bit does not relate to legal claims. It relate to all sorts of things where refunds could be given or amounts written off. It is about efficiency and being rewarded for that part of your job.

Hey Nattie.... I think I get where you are coming from....
Things like.... staff making stupid mistakes and then Natwest offering goodwill gestures due to a poorly trained staff member or a member of staff that doesn't care about their job getting it badly wrong....??
I had this when my mother (also a natwest customer) accidentaly used my new cheque book and wrote out about 20 cheques....All of which natwest processed and allowed!
Without checking a single signature......this put my account seriously overdrawn.....
It cost Natwest £150 they could have saved if they had looked at 20 signatures....
I also spoke to my local branch manager, who is hugely under staffed due to the reclaiming charges....she said they had cuts on staffing....
I was offered by a local firm to reclaim my charges at the time £600...they told me they could get me £3000 and make me a profit.....I refused as all I wanted at the time was what I had been charged back!
Most of us just want a fair charge for the service we signed up for....
Not to give Natwest shareholders a nice christmas bonus or add to the companies profits.....
I am not angry at Natwest staff.......Just the way in which the company has acted toward the very people that keep it going......It's customers....
And I do love to hear your views Nattie......I know you are one of the people who bend over backward to help people who need genuine help......
                                Russ
