  • Natwest and incorrect adverse credit report

Story so far. Sorry if it goes on a bit.

had a few problems with mortgage, only missed one payment over 2 years ago. Put a payment arrangement in place, paid if off, arrangement ended Dec 2006. In Sept 07 applied for extra borrowing on mortgage, went through fine, so obviously no problems on credit report then. Have not missed a payment for over 2 years, it goes direct debit out of our natwest current account to the natwest mortgage without fail.On 1st Feb this year, checked my credit file on experian, only to find that the status for the month before was showing as a (1), although the current status was (0). Phoned morgage crew, finallyy spoke to someone who understood what I was talking about, she agreed that it was incorrect, I faxed her over a copy of the report, she rang to say it would be corrected. Then i forgot about it. (I know, I know!)
Anyway, rang yesterday to ask for a further 5k to be added onto mortgage. It got declined. When i asked why, when only 6 months ago we'd had no probs, i was told it must be something recent. Light bulb in my brain clicked on, checked credit report, only to find that last months status is now showing (0) and this months is (1).
Have rung complaints and they are supposed to be calling me back.

    What should i do now?

How is the rest of your credit file?

As I wouldnt think that having a '1' marker would affect your current standing with the same bank, as they also have in house credit scoring.

Their declination may be just due to the current climate and that they just dont want to release anymore funds.
Some banks have actually uped thoer rates just to deter people..

Did all previous payments get received on time, i.e. 1st presentation and not bounce then get paid on 2nd represntation?

What are you trying to achieve from this? Correction of details and/or compensation.
If the latter I dont think you will achieve anything

Rest of my file isn't too bad, tbh. Truthfully, I'm not that upset about being declined, if I don't have it, I haven't got to pay it. Whats naffed me off is that the info is blatantly wrong. Payments have never bounced, goes out last day of every month, deliberately set at that day cos there's always our salary in.
I think it is the late marker thats affected it, cos Natwest are like that, told me ages ago when we'd had the payment arrangement, it was best to wait till there was 12 months of on time payments and no arrears etc.
I just want it to be correct, I don't mind being pulled up for something we've done, but not for something we haven't.
No chance of any compo, but if they offer anything I'll snatch their habds off for it lol.

Re: Natwest and incorrect adverse credit report

Well Natwest have finally phoned me back. Admitted it was their fault, payment wasn't late, but their system didn't process it till the next day. he has personally removed it and says it should be updated with all 3 credit ref agencies within 72 hours.

Me being a cheeky sort of a person, asked if I would get any compensation. he asked what I'd like. I said what was he offering. His reply was "would you like a bit of cash or a couple of bottles of wine" i said a lot of cash would be better! He offered 50 quid, I went for 150, settled in the end on £100. Says he's got to confirm but should be okay, and will write to confirm today.

        RESULT!!!

Sorry guys but by the time we get to Petey that 100 quid will be long gone! Got Freds Int chasing now for Powergen, might use it to shut them up, theyre threatening to take OH to court now, but he doesn't know (need to know basis), what i don't tell him, he don't panic about!

just checked credit expert, and my file does not now show any adverse data regarding Natwest. Bloody hell, someone's actually done what they said they'd do! a first for Natwest!
