If it’s a bank holiday, like Easter 2016,anywhere in the UK your payment should be early. If you are due to receive benefit or tax credit payments on Friday or Monday you should receive the payment on THURSDAY 24th March 2016.

Bank holiday payment dates




Your Child Benefit payment is usually paid early if it’s due on a bank holiday. Payments might be late for some bank holidays in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

If it’s a bank holiday anywhere in the UK your TAX CREDITS payment may be early.

If your payment is due on a bank holiday, you’ll be paid on the last working day before the holiday ( so it should be paid on the 24th March if you are normally paid on a Friday or Monday)

Easter Bank Holiday 2016- Bank Opening Times
Most Bank Branches will be CLOSED on Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. However see listing below for individual banks ( eg. Metro is only closed on Sunday – Barclays have some of their city centre branches open Monday and Friday etc)
Branches that open on a Saturday will be open as normal.

Online services will be available as normal through the Easter Bank Holiday period with the standard daily cut-off times applying as normal.

Traditionally Tuesday after Easter is the busiest banking day of the year so hang fire till Wednesday if you can. Direct Debits are not collected on a Bank Holiday; so, usually they’ll next be collected on Tuesday.

Metro Bank Branches will be open on Friday and Monday. They are open 7 days a week, 362 days a year. They are only closed on New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday and Christmas Day.



Barclays Bank Main city branches will be opening Good Friday and Easter Monday from 10am to 2pm. Most other branches will be closed.
