I got myself in a mass of financial trouble about 8 yrs ago. One of them was with the Natwest. I owed them about 7k. With my depression i forgot or just ignored it and buried my head in the sand, the outcome was they stopped chasing me until about a year ago when they sold it to Capquest, who i ignored again as it was way past the statute barred time. Capquest have had no luck and i haven't heard from anyone for around 6 months now, until yesterday when i got a letter from the Natwest. The letter said, that after reviewing my closed account (its been closed 8 yrs) they have realised they mis applied some incorrect charges and would like to apologise and send me the money back including interest, and can they have my bank account details to send me the £80 they owe me!! Now being of a very suspicious nature i don't believe a word of it. I think they are either trying to get my bank details to take money from me OR are just trying to confirm i still live there. What does everyone else think? Is this something they are known to do? Either way they can keep their £80 i wont be contacting them!

Re: Trick or Treat by Nastywest?
I think that if NatWest want to refund it then they would later say that they had refunded it in error and that it should have been refunded back to the account where the outstanding amount was. Personally I would not respond whatsoever under the circumstances that you have outlined above."Family means that no one gets forgotten or left behind"
