  • Woolfie v's Barclaycard (again)

I am now trying to sort out an old account I had with Barclaycard and need some advice.

I only discovered this account was still live when i checked my credit file recently. The last activity on the account was in 1999 and since then it has been showing as having a balance of £33 dr and that there is an arrangement to pay in place. I have a copy of the Credit agreement etc. I phoned them and they told me i should pay them the £33 (which would not be a problem) and they would update the record to show it as paid in full. I am not happy about this as my credit file will show the fact there was an arrangement to pay for the next 6 years.

In 1999 I asked them to give me a final balance and paid this asking them to close the account but I dont have any proof of this now.

    Thanks

    Hi Woolfie

Have you sent a DPA request off to Barclaycard to try and retreive the details from them. If it was paid off in 1999 from a final balance it should show in your records. If that works out you should be able to wipe it off easily.

If the £33 was from a charge you should also be able to have it wiped off the file completely, you'll need to check statements from back then if you can get them.
