  • Natwest problem

    Hi everyone,

Had some real trouble with NatWest.

Back in 2006 I was in dispute regarding charges.
In my current account I had a cheque which 'cleared' so I paid my bills, then the cheque bounced and left me with an overdraft of nearly £350 which I couldn't pay. NatWest were no help and I couldn't get hold of the person who wrote me the dud cheque.
NatWest then handed over the account to a DCA who I paid within 1 month.
I then went for all the charges I had from NatWest (I had three accounts), the amount totalled up to £800. This was done via a Subject Access Request. NatWest then really mucked up and sent all my details and statements to a lady in Yorkshire.
After complaining to the FOS, NatWest finally paid up and sent me some compensation.
Just checked my credit file and NatWest had defaulted the account, and it was also shown as satissfied. I never received a default notice (should I have receivedone?)
My question is as the charges were for more than the amount they defaulted my is there anyway I can get it changed.

    Thanks in advanced.

A Warm Welcome to Legal Beagles.
Ok let's deal with the default firstly, was this placed on your credit file at the time the account went to the DCA?
Was your address correct and were you receiving mail from NatWest?
Have the charges been refunded as yet?

      Re: Natwest problem

Hi, sorry haven't been on for a little while:
The default was placed on when it went to the DCA
I had moved but can't remember having any mail from Natwest.
Natwest did pay all my charges and some compo for my inconvience.

Forgot to say that I still have a deposit account with Natwest.
I have written to them three times now want a copy of the default, but they keep writing back saying they don't have my details and need proof of me! even though I still have an account with them. So what will be the best thing to do know.

The amount they defaulted me is for £180 and the charges I got back was over £800 which seems unfair.

      Thanks

      JJ
