  • Halifax charges ?

    Hi all,

I'm new to the site, but after reading about reclaiming charges, i thought i would ask how u do it and in my case can i.

My partner as a halifax account which we haven't used for nearly 18 month the orginal o/d was for £1250 we have been a dmp with payplan for 18 months and pay £11 through them to halifax every month.....but halifax are putting on charges of interest and every month its higher.

The debt is now over £1800. What can i do to stop this as we are trying to pay it back abit small amounts as when i took the dmp out i was the only one working hence why we got into difficulty as my OH left his job due to depression.

he also as a halifax one CC with them, but no charges go on that, which i can't understand?

thanks for taking the time to read.

    Re: Halifax charges ?

Yes you can reclaim the charges.

Have a read of the step by step and letters here > Legal Beagles

Keep making the payplan payments of £11 as if this does go further you can prove you have been reasonable in repaying the debt.

You will need to send halifax a letter telling them the account is in dispute, and ask them to stop applying interest and charges to the account until its sorted. I would do that alongside the Subject access Request - Data Protection Act letter.

Also do you think you could be considered in hardship ? do you have utilities, council tax, mortgage/rent arrears etc ? If so then we can try and get your claim dealt with a bit faster.

If you need any help with letters just shout. Welcome to Beagles.

      Hi amethyst,

      thanks for the response.

I will definetly be looking at sending a letter.

Re finanacial hardship we i have missed one council tax payment from last year and so far this year haven't paid it as i have just returned to work from having a broken foot we also have 2 month arrears on our motgage we haven't missed a payment on it for 5 months though.

When we first entered the debt plan my Oh wasn't working hence why i only pay £100 a month to it. But saying that even with him now working i cannot afford to high the amounts.

      thanks
