  • Bailiffs calling for Sons court fines

Posted on behalf of new user

i am wandering if you could advise me regarding my 19 year old sons court fines, now with the Bailiffs. he is in full time education, does not receive any funding and does not work and he lives under my roof . i have already obtained a statutory declaration regarding the contents of my rented accommodation, he has not purchased anything within my home.
is there a letter or way of having the matter returned to the courts to discuss payment. i have written to the courts before and it was passed around and then we were informed that we would have to deal with the Bailiffs. the Bailiffs and the court are both placing the ability to return it to the court on each other.

i would be grateful for any advice you can provide.

If the court manager has not had any input in the matter, a complaint to the court manager at the court which imposed the original fine is the next step. If the court manager is being as helpful as the proverbial chocolate fireguard, then there is the Legal Advice, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012 which empowers the court to refer the matter back to the magistrates for review. If the court manager has not heard of this piece of legislation, please post this up. This may need chasing up at a higher level.
