I'll second that. There will be a good chance that someone will be reading this and reporting back.

Re: Threatened with prison today.
Thanks again for all the help people.
No real update, I have the forms to file a complaint againts the adviser, though on friday I recieved a letter informing me that I had been assigned a new debt management adviser. I wonder if the council read this forum?
Cheers again
John

John, I really hope you settle this. From my own recent experience the people on here offer great advice.

From what I've read over the past few weeks there really are some disreputable councils and bailiffs out there. The Government should be doing something about all this. It annoys me that they aren't and innocent people are being hounded.

Re: Threatened with prison today.
Idiots. If they had worded the contract properly, they could have gotten out of the contract without having to incur such expense. A number of local authorities use a Default Notice System whereby if the contractor is issued with a given number of such notices, the contract is terminated without the contractor receiving a penny in compensation. The view that such local authorities take is that failure should not be rewarded.Originally posted by enquirer View PostThis is a trend.
Some years ago, Oldham Council handed over it's Revenue Collection to a private firm whose performance was so appalling that Bedfordshire Council (by whom they had previously been employed), was willing to pay an astronomical sum to get out of the contract. This was reported in Private Eye.
