Was the motor-car sold privately or was it sold to a garage?

I've spoken to the bailiff a few times now
For how many months or years have you been a masochist?

and he keeps saying "you need to pay ASAP otherwise I will continue to add money to this debt,
But then, he would say that, wouldn't he?
    • He does not have a valid levy.
    • The goods on which he claimed to have levied distress belonged to a third party.
    • The goods on which he claimed to have levied distress have since been removed.
    • He seems to have bugger all chance of levying distress on any of your goods.
    • The law is plain about how much he may lawfully charge for two (or more) visits - £42.50
    • He simply cannot - lawfully - add any further charges, though he may try to add repeated "van fees" which, without any valid levy or seized goods to remove, would be of dubious legality at best.

Can someone advise on what I can say to him on the phone or Rossendales themselves to make them realise I am no idiot and I will not be bullied into handing over fraudulent money.. (I have no issue paying the existing debt I owe but I refuse to pay there ridiculous charges!!
It is better not to use the electric telephone to contact the bailiff or Tosserdales.

Use writing or email and contact the Head of Revenues at the council instead.

Re: Rossendales Bailiff and Council tax advice needed

A little over two years ago, a creature by the name of John Boast was a bailiff employed by Tosserdales. After he was covertly recorded misbehaving and the footage was broadcast in the ITV programme Exposure - Bailiffs, he was sacked PDQ by Tosserdales as part of their attempts at damage limitation. It was claimed at the time that he was "a rogue bailiff" and that everyone else was perfectly decent and honest.

I did not believe those claims then and see less reason to believe them now.

Re: Rossendales Bailiff and Council tax advice needed

After about 5 strongly worded and detailed emails to "tosserdales" I finally got a letter from them
            yesterday.

"We have received your emails of complain and we thank you for them, we will now be carrying out an investigation into the matters you have risen and we will be in touch in 21 days"

looks like a lot of complaining and stating what they would be doing seems to have paid off a little!
