But we're not. It is unlikely that any bailiff would have any viable complaint from any comment posted here.

I put forward the defence of Fair Comment, m'lud. Or does m'lud agree that this bailiff appears to have only one working brain cell?

On a more serious note, Cloggy, calling a bailiff a sufferer of the Oedipus Complex to their face would, in all probability, amount to Behaviour Likely to Cause A Breach of the Peace. We all are aware that the civil enforcement industry is riddled with corruption, fraud and violence. If bailiffs don't want to be referred to as "brain-dead" or "brainless" on advice and information forums, perhaps, they should get their house in order and clean their act up. Perhaps, then, forums might and I stress the word "might" start taking them a bit more seriously. Because, at present, the behaviour of bailiffs is beyond a joke.

Oh we used to call bailiffs some pretty rude names when called out to incidents involving them, when I was a copper. Calling them "brain-dead idiots" was one of the more civil terms of reference. The terms they were usually addressed by would send the swear filter into meltdown.

Especially if they had just broken several laws and actually assaulted the debtor, or often a third party as one company is good at extracting money out of innocents.

Perhaps we should use a sliding scale of insult severity dependent on the seriousness of the transgression.

Calling someone names behind the back is worse IMHO, but more importantly it result in post after post, thread after thread of boring repetitive name calling, with no real constructive information being sought or derived.

so long as a point of law, or a remedy is contained in a post and insults are minimal that may be a start

The last bailiff who tried to intimidate me ran off very fast when I him to off or get thrown out,dressed in black thinking he was a mafia hitman and lying to me about previous visits and letters he even switched his phone off when I called as he got in his car,this bully was coward lying barsteward

How about....we deal with all the salient points on the bailiff threads,,the who,what,when,where and why......dish out the advice,let OP deal with it...THEN let loose with all the hilarious names and critcisms so the original query doesn't get lost amongst all your jocularity?

Bailiffs are not to be subject to p taking or insults,when a week goes by when I don't read of a bailiff acting in the way we hear about so often I would agree

How about a penalty system, similar to a swear box, award points to each transgressor, at the end of the week the one with the highest count has to pay an appropriate forfeit.

Maybe a 1000 word essay on a subject of our choice.

Of course we would need someone of impeccable integrity to oversee and regulate such an important function, someone with stern resolve an iron will and impeccable moral standards, I recommend me.

Sadly BB I do, from a previous existence, once this particular company were involved they wouldn't let go like a terrier on an ankle, whether they had the right person or not, harassing new tenants of social landlords for the departed tenants debt was a favourite, Didn't Drakes used to do that a lot?

fair enough, make sure the salient advice is given as factually and clearly as possible then say if it is dealt with by post 10, let rip, constructively when the inevitable fairy tale responses come in from the bailiffs.

They don't like it if a guy with a camera, camcorder, with a white shirt tie, dark trousers and an ID tag on a lanyard films them either!
